Meet Jessica Vines of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Vines.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started singing at really young age. I would sing in my church band and was able to take lessons through school at 12 years old. I played casually as much as I could until I went to college and got my degree in Jazz Studies. Ever since college, I’ve been writing, recording, and performing music as much as I can.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have certainly been some struggles along the way, but overall I’ve been lucky to have a smooth road. And I’m still on the road! I’m figuring out what success looks like and how to protect the other elements of my life while giving my best to music. I think it’s an ever evolving journey and taking it one step at a time has made it feel manageable.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a vocalist and songwriter. My sound is pop with R&B influences and I really try to make music that is fun, relatable and groovy! I am most proud of my consistency as a musician. I’ve continued to play live and release music since I started in 2019 and even when it get difficult, I find a way to create and perform.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the food and access to hiking. I also feel so inspired being surrounded by people with different backgrounds, life experiences and perspectives. I find that incredibly enriching. I do wish public transportation was more accessible or the city wasn’t as spread out as it is.
