Check Out Heather Chee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Chee

Heather, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey. My story begins when I was just 3 years old. I underwent spinal surgery to correct a condition where my spine was slipping out of place. The recovery was a profound experience for me, even at that young age. I spent six months in a full-body cast, confined to a wheelchair, dressed in oversized clothes that were practical but made me feel even smaller in a world that already felt too big.

I can still remember the looks people gave me—curiosity, pity, sometimes just indifference. It was hard not to feel like those glances defined me. But I also learned something powerful in those early years: how we see ourselves, and how we choose to show up in the world, has the power to change how we feel.

That understanding became my anchor as I grew older, and it shaped my purpose. I’ve come to believe that the way we present ourselves can be a reflection of our inner light. It can empower us to step into our purpose, even when life feels heavy. After earning my degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and spending over a decade in styling and product development, I knew I wanted to do more than just create beautiful wardrobes—I wanted to use style as a tool for transformation.

In 2022, I launched Stylized Threads, rooted in the belief that when you change your look, you change your life. Today, I help executives, professionals, and even survivors of domestic violence find their confidence and reclaim their power through the way they dress. My work is deeply spiritual to me because I’ve seen how a shift in self-image can help someone unlock their potential and embrace the life they were meant to live. Style has the power to transform not just your appearance, but your energy and mindset.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I believe the best journeys rarely are. As a solopreneur, one of the biggest challenges has been trusting in my own ideas and intuition, especially when there’s no one else to validate your vision or tell you you’re on the right track. It’s easy to second-guess yourself when you’re the one steering the ship, but I’ve learned that leaning into my expertise and trusting what I know has been essential.

That self-trust became even more important when I set out to create programs and services that are truly impactful for my clients. I didn’t want to offer generic solutions; I wanted to create tailored experiences that solve real problems and empower people to feel confident in their personal and professional lives. But figuring out how to design something so personalized while navigating all the other responsibilities of running a business required a lot of trial, error, and perseverance.

Ultimately, I’ve found that the challenges of being a solopreneur—trusting my intuition, designing custom solutions, and balancing it all—are deeply connected. They’ve taught me how to listen more intently to my clients, how to trust my creative instincts, and how to build a business that reflects not only my expertise but my passion for making a difference. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every step.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

This heart-centered approach, combined with my expertise, allows me to create wardrobes that are not just stylish but strategically designed to enhance their lives—helping them close more deals, make more money, and show up as their best selves every day.

I’m most proud of the life-changing transformations I get to witness in my clients. I’ve seen firsthand how the right wardrobe can boost confidence, change a person’s mindset, and open up new opportunities. My “why” is deeply personal: having experienced a time of low confidence myself, I understand how dressing with intention can truly transform not just how others see you, but how you see yourself. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping my clients unlock their own transformation.

Stylized Threads is also deeply committed to giving back to the community, regularly partnering with organizations that empower others in their own journeys. So, when clients work with us, they’re not just investing in themselves—they’re contributing to a larger mission of positive impact.

In the end, Stylized Threads is about more than just clothes; it’s about changing your look to change your life, empowering you to live with more confidence, presence, and purpose in everything you do.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk-taking has been a pivotal part of my journey. I left a comfortable salaried corporate job, a predictable path, to pursue a dream that I couldn’t ignore—helping people transform their lives through style. Starting Stylized Threads was a big leap for me—leaving behind the security of a steady income and stepping into the unknown. But with the unwavering support of my husband, who never thought I was crazy (even though it certainly sounded that way at times!), I realized that to truly build something meaningful and aligned with my passions, I needed to take that risk.

For me, risk-taking isn’t about being reckless; it’s about trusting your intuition and aligning your actions with your values. Every decision, whether it was investing in my education, building my network, or carefully curating sustainable, high-quality brands to work with, has been a calculated risk. These choices haven’t always been easy, but they’ve allowed me to create a business that’s not only successful but also impactful.

What’s most rewarding is the transformation I’ve seen in my clients—their confidence, mindset, and lives all shift as they embrace a wardrobe that reflects their true selves. That’s the real payoff. While I may not be a natural risk-taker, I’ve learned that to create something that truly makes a difference, you have to take risks. It’s about trusting yourself, stepping outside your comfort zone, and being open to learning and growing through the process.
