Meet Amanda Olmeda of San Fernando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Olmeda

Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a fascination with photography and growing up I tried to get my hands on any camera I could find. There was never just one specific thing about it that just called out to me. Maybe it was the creativeness, or the idea of photographing someone and being part of something that made someone else feel good about themselves. Captured memories was definitely up there though. I unfortunately have had my fair share of death, loss and heart break but looking back, the memories I captured on camera helped me so much. I never had any formal “training” I’ve gone off trial and error since the jump. Slowly I started gaining confidence in my work and eventually I decided to try and monetize off of it. Still trying to learn and grow and really get my business off the ground.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Probably one of the bumpiest, twisty roads I’ve ever traveled. Aside from the financial aspect of it ( cameras and gear is EXPENSIVE) I’ve dealt with a lot of depression that kept me from getting out there and just snapping pics. Anxiety also can make it difficult for me to want to keep pushing because I would always seem to talk down to myself because I felt like I wasn’t good enough

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer! I love shooting candid moments. Capturing people just as they are without the awkwardness of having them stand still or trying to figure out the right pose is my favorite thing. I also love shooting vehicles. I grew up around low riders and Harley’s so I guess it just came naturally to me to want to shoot cars

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the culture and the diversity.
