Today we’d like to introduce you to Celina Wong
Hi Celina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my flower journey over ten years ago when I worked at a flower shop for fun after graduating college. It was here that I discovered that some flower shops specialized in events and weddings. I got my work studio in 2014 and have been lucky to service the greater Los Angeles area ever since. You can say I kind of fell into flowers. I didn’t grow up dreaming of a flower shop. A friend mentioned working at a local shop and I figured I would try it out while looking for jobs post-college. I didn’t expect to fall in love with the craft. But most importantly, I enjoy that this career allowed me to connect with people and the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a bumpy road — filled with trial and error. I’m constantly learning something new and the industry is always evolving. I had to learn how to parallel park a cargo van and how to manage a team. But I would say the hardest part is wearing all the different hats in order to run a small business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our floral studio specializes in weddings and events. Our approach to arranging is garden-inspired and we like our arrangements to reflect mother nature. We love telling interesting color stories and highlighting the beauty of each flower type. You can say our approach to flowers is organic and natural. We want to make sure our arrangements are an extension of our couples so we’ll often ask what they like to do in their free time and see how we can incorporate their personalities into the pieces.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would not be where I am without the endless support of my family and friends. They would never hesitate to help me wash buckets or set up for event days. Additionally they would always lend their time to listen to my worries and frustrations. They were there for all the setbacks and the small wins. For that I am forever grateful.
I am also in debt to my vendors and team members. My vendors have have always been great and reliable in getting me fresh and beautiful flowers to work with. My team has always been filled with hard workers with great attitudes. Work never felt like work, it was more like hanging out with other people who enjoyed working with flowers.
