Meet Chris Uriel of Netherlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Uriel

Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At just 19 years old, Chris Uriel is carving out a space in the music world with his deeply personal and emotionally driven sound. Born in Aruba and now based in the Netherlands, Chris isn’t just making music—he’s creating experiences that inspire, heal, and connect with listeners on a deeper level. With a unique blend of influences and a powerful message behind his artistry, he is quickly becoming a name to watch.

My stage name isn’t just a moniker—it’s a reflection of my identity and spiritual beliefs. My full name, Christian Uriel Hijmering, holds deep meaning, I believe highly in God. Uriel is an angel, and Christian means a follower of Christ. It felt like the perfect choice. This faith-driven perspective is woven into my music, where themes of self-belief, resilience, and personal growth take center stage.

Growing up in Aruba, I was immersed in a mix of Latin rhythms, hip-hop, and electronic sounds. While the island provided a strong foundation, I saw the Netherlands as an opportunity to expand my music career. Aruba is small but has big connections. The Netherlands, and Europe as a whole, offer even more. This diverse background plays a major role in shaping my genre-blending sound, allowing me to seamlessly switch between styles based on instinct rather than formula.

I don’t like to confine myself to a single genre. Every song is an expression of real-life experiences, whether it’s about personal struggles, love, heartbreak, or overcoming obstacles. My creative process is entirely organic. I put on a beat and I let my emotions guide me. I don’t sit down thinking, ‘Today I’ll make a pop song or an afrobeat track.’ I just express what’s in my heart.”

My journey into music started at a young age, inspired by discovering dubstep and Martin Garrix on YouTube. Fascinated by the sound, I started experimenting with beats and learning production through tutorials at around the age of 10 years old. I first gained attention as a DJ and producer, uploading beats under the name NVSN. People started following my journey, even calling me NVSN before I was 13. However, as my love for storytelling and lyricism grew, I transitioned into full-fledged artistry, combining my production skills with my ability to create meaningful, relatable lyrics.

At the heart of my artistry is a simple yet powerful message: believe in yourself, push past your limits, and chase your dreams relentlessly. I want my listeners to walk away from my music feeling motivated to give 200% to everything they do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many upcoming artists, I faced my share of challenges—insecurities, financial struggles, and even doubt from friends and family. No one ever believed I could make it happen. But through it all, I stayed focused, using music as both an escape and a weapon against negativity.

My faith in God keeps me grounded. I’ve faced hate, but my music and my belief in God help me overcome those obstacles.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I produce, write, perform, sing, rap, direct, edit, color grade my own songs/videos/content.

Self taught music producer, film maker

Known for taking music and taking what people think is impossible to the next level.

Im most proud of not giving up with my dreams and keeping my faith constantly with God.

Why am I different? because there is only 1 Chris Uriel in the world. With that meaning no one can express what I feel & think in music because I do things with my own personal meaning & experiences.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
God deserves all the credit for what I’ve accomplished and am yet to accomplish.

He gave me hope when it felt like there was none, gave me love when it felt like I deserved none. For that, I shall forever be grateful and faithful.
