Hi Taishi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to the U.S. from Japan 20 years ago. I was inspired by the American dream—the idea that if you worked hard and stayed committed, you could achieve anything. I barely spoke English when I first arrived, but I was determined to build something meaningful.
Since coming here, I’ve been fortunate to achieve many of my dreams. I’ve worked as a successful actor in Hollywood, run a production company, and even created a studio where I help young people navigate the challenges of show business. Helping others has always been a passion of mine.
During a business trip to Japan for my production company, I attended an event where I met the President of BBFRY Japan. We immediately connected, and as I learned more about BBFRY’s revolutionary technology, I saw its incredible potential. It was a unique opportunity to help restaurant owners in America improve their operations while also building commerce between Japan and the U.S.
Today, as the President of BBFRY Global, I’m proud to say I’m able to combine my love of business and helping people by supporting restaurant owners. My journey hasn’t been without challenges, but seeing the impact BBFRY has on kitchens around the world has made every step worth it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Moving from Japan to the U.S. wasn’t without its challenges. When I first arrived, I barely spoke English and had no network to rely on. Every day felt like an uphill battle as I adjusted to a new culture and worked to make ends meet. I took on whatever jobs I could find, but working in a restaurant taught me the most about perseverance. I learned the importance of staying flexible and adapting quickly—lessons that have stuck with me throughout my career.
When I joined BBFRY, we faced significant obstacles in bringing the product to the American market. Convincing restaurant owners to trust a new, advanced technology wasn’t easy. Many were skeptical because they’d seen other so-called “miracle” products fail to deliver. On top of that, there were logistical challenges with importing the product and educating restaurant teams on how to use it to its full potential.
However, my experience in show business had taught me how to stay resilient and build relationships. I knew that building trust would be key. I spent countless hours personally meeting with restaurant owners, demonstrating the benefits of BBFRY, and listening to their concerns. Slowly but surely, word spread, and once chefs saw the product’s real impact, momentum started to build.
These challenges taught me one important thing: it’s not about avoiding obstacles, but about facing them head-on. The ability to navigate difficulties, whether cultural or business-related, has been essential to my journey. Every challenge has made me more determined to bring meaningful solutions to the restaurant industry.
