Rising Stars: Meet Cherin Choi of Beverly hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherin Choi

Hi Cherin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my career in B2B tech sales. During a quarter life crisis I realized I wanted to follow my high school dreams of going to cosmetology school. I apprenticed as color associate at the prestigious Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, CA. It was there that I refined coloring techniques. After learning how to help clients achieve their dream hair goals while at Ramirez Tran in Beverly Hills, I opened Nova Arts Salon. From there, I transitioned full-time to private appointments only across the client base she developed throughout Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A career I’m so passionate about comes with its challenges. I care deeply about my work, my clients, and their happiness, which makes every hurdle worth overcoming. From salon politics and the lack of HR in this industry to the psychology of managing clients and their expectations, there are many layers to navigate. But through it all, finding your people—the ones who truly support and uplift you—makes the journey worthwhile. I’m grateful for every challenge that has pushed me to grow and evolve in this career I love.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve developed specialized coloring techniques that enhance fine, healthy hair while minimizing damage and can seamlessly transform dark, coarse hair into radiant blonde. Beyond natural hair coloring, I love incorporating creative color palettes into my highlighting methods. Additionally, I have extensive experience with hair extensions, particularly sew-in wefts and tape-ins. My goal is always to help my clients achieve their dream hair with precision and care.

What are your plans for the future?
I am excited to be traveling more this year, I am in New York every other month and working regularly in Los Angeles and quarterly in San Francisco. I am looking forward to more time in NYC, I love the energy I get from New York. There are no big changes in my immediate future, I am focusing on ramping my business back up now that my little ones are a little older and I feel like I am able to work.
