Conversations with Konstantina Foca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Konstantina Foca

Hi Konstantina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Athens Greece , into a very artistic family—my mother is an actor, and so was my father (who, unfortunately, is no longer with us). As a child, I had a challenging and overly controlled upbringing, but my escapes were theater, choir, poetry, movies, and, of course, video games and my bike.

Believe it or not, I was never encouraged to become an actress, which was always mind-boggling to me—especially coming from my mother, an actress herself, who had always hoped and wished with all her heart that I would become a doctor or a lawyer. Well, I didn’t become either… I followed my heart—I became an artist. I act, I sing, and I write.

Shortly after my professional theater debut in Athens, Greece, I filmed my first short film. Not long after, I packed my little suitcase and came to Los Angeles. It was the second-best decision of my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?I believe it’s never a smooth road in anything. There are always bumps, sharp turns, and walls you have to climb or break through at times. But if you keep going, it only makes you stronger and serves as confirmation that you’re on the right path. If you give up at the first difficulty, maybe you didn’t want it as much as you thought you did. So every obstacle is the best  way to check in with yourself and make sure you are heading where you truly want to go.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a theater baby, you know? I literally grew up in the world of theater .Τhe first stage production I ever watched  was the play
“The caucasian Chalk Circle” by Bertolt Brecht, I was about 6 years old . Many followed after that and of course many of them were Greek ancient tragedies and comedies like Sophoklis and Aristofanis.

But movies stole my heart many years ago.

I’m constantly exploring new characters and pushing creative boundaries, which keeps my work fresh and exciting.
My range allows me to seamlessly transition from a street-smart rebel to an old-money aristocrat, with my accent giving me an edge in portraying characters from across Europe and South America.

One of my proudest moments was playing a visually impaired character—a role I prepared for using method acting. I did things like  walking with a cane, washing dishes blindfolded .. I actually did just about everything with a blindfold on.

I  had the honor of winning an award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival for Last Stop in Between, an immersive play production that was devised from the cast .

I am currently adapting a play into a script, and I’m so excited to bring this project to life! It’s a long but beautiful process.
