Exploring Life & Business with Lianne La Reine of Palos Verdes Pulse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lianne La Reine of the Palos Verdes Pulse.

Hi Lianne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Palos Verdes Pulse was created to fill the void that local paper magazines didn’t, can’t and don’t fill. None of them are native owned and no one can cover the peninsula like those that have grown up in the area. Palos Verdes Pulse was officially created in 2019. Lianne La Reine generates the content and Dr. Liz Musil handles the digital operations. Lianne and Liz met in a Masters program in college many years ago and knew their collaboration could be powerful. They both valued each other’s abilities, capabilities, character and knowledge. Palos Verdes Pulse, www.PalosVerdesPulse.com, was and remains digital only for many reasons. Palos Verdes Pulse is the most read publication on the peninsula and that is substantiated by analytics. Among other things Lianne used to sell products on air at QVC and represented client products behind the scene. She is sensitive to the importance of making and substantiating accurate claims. Liz is a trained professor with two Masters degrees and a Ph.D. One of her Master’s degrees is in technology. Both Lianne and Liz are seasoned professionals, accustomed to working hard and take pride in producing a superior product (whatever it may be). Palos Verdes Pulse has been rapidly growing due to several factors and continues to grow at break neck speed, which Lianne and Liz are deeply grateful for. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing from readers that they read it, enjoy it and appreciate the love and dedication to the final product. It truly is a labor of love.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life is easy and was never intended to be. It’s unfortunate there are millions of great stories that we will never have the time to share! There are countless deadlines, disappointments, dollars that need to be generated and the list goes on and on. There is little to no time to rest when you enjoy being the best. Sometimes we have to decline stories because of deadlines or subject matter. It is never enjoyable to disappoint anyone. Sometimes we just don’t have the horsepower to cover a story because we don’t have enough personnel though we may have wanted to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Palos Verdes Pulse is the most read publication on the Palos Verdes peninsula. How do we know that? We know this because we have analytics. We have had over 300K readers in 2024 thus far this year with time to go. We have blue ribbon contributors. They include Academy Award winning, Grammy nominated, MD’s, Ph.D’s, historians, a Telly Award winner, Marcus Limonis, artists and the list goes on and on. Our contributors are impressive.

We specialize in ELEVATED content from many disciplines and topics and generate about 30 stories a month. It is a far heavier amount of content than any other publication we are aware of….certainly more than the papers
