Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Elsas
Hi Kelly , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Of course! I’m so excited to be here. Thank you so much for having me back.
I was born in New York City in Spanish Harlem on the Upper East Side. I grew up in a little town in New Jersey with mom, dad and two younger brothers. I’ve been lucky to live in Australia and spent a lot of time in the UK. For the past five years, I’ve been living in Los Angeles, California. I honestly love it here.
My story started behind the camera. I got my MFA in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy Los Angeles back in 2021. After I graduated, all I wanted to do was be on-set. From there, I started booking on-camera work as an actress and model. I also have a really great internal team, consisting of my agent, manager and acting coach.
It’s been a wild ride to get to where I am today. I’m truly so grateful for every moment of it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This is a great question. I think two things can be true at the same time.
Some days have been smooth, others days have struggles. I like to think that big goals come with big challenges. That’s why the results are so exciting. I try to accept challenges as apart of process to avoid being setback for too long. If you’re motivated and disciplined, the results will appear when they’re meant to. I’m also a big believer in not taking shortcuts.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Of course! I’m an actress and model based out of Los Angeles, California. I honestly love all kinds of projects.I’ve also always loved how images and film capture time. I think art creates an opportunity for us to create something greater. I’ve been so lucky to work with some really dedicated and talented individuals so far. I had the opportunity to walk LA Fashion Week and was in my first movie this year!
You’d have to ask my friends what sets me apart! I hope my kindness, honesty and integrity sets me apart.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
It’s different for everyone. I think once you get into the mentality that you can accomplish what you’re looking to and commit yourself to it; the right mentor will come into your life at the right time. Energetically, if you seek too hard for something, you might attract the wrong people and things into your life.
I’ve been grateful to have some incredible mentors in my lifetime. For me, my mentors changed during certain chapter of my life. My advice is to let them find you. I promise they’re closer than you think. I think you always cross paths with people for a reason.
