Rising Stars: Meet Robin Harris Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Harris Jr.

Robin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first start in music and entertainment started back when I was a kid. I got introduced to recording and writing poetry/raps around 8 or 9 years old. I grew up performing in church in Leimert Park and by the time I got to high school started to recording music. After high school, I got the opportunity to further my education and play football at the collegiate level; in result I took a break from music to focus on getting my degree. After college, I knew I wanted to get back into music and entertainment and so I began working at my craft and building up my catalog as well as working odd jobs to support myself & career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. When you’re building and working towards establishing yourself in my industry, it’s never going to be easy. Also, when you have a parent who was successful in the entertainment industry; at times it can be challenging to establish your own identity and walk your own path. I’m proud of the journey. There’s beauty & lessons in the struggle though, and I feel that you have to be resilient to manifest your vision. Along the way, it’s been tough, but I just keep working to stay consistent. A recent hurdle that I faced was my team & I losing a ton a music that was stolen from a hard drive, but like I said you just have to keep going.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a music artist, music producer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. I specialize in hip-hop/r&b. I’m known for being the son of late comedian Robin Harris, as well as my smooth/soulful music vibes. I’d say that I’m most proud of building a name for myself in this industry. What makes me unique is that fact that I never limit my creativity I always challenge myself to be different but stay true to myself.

What are your plans for the future?
I have many big plans for the future. However, I’m just focused on the present moment right now in building and releasing new music. I’m looking forward to stepping into the acting world and seeing where that takes me.
