Today we’d like to introduce you to Raya Dize. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Born in Germany, Raya has moved around the world through the years and has a multicultural heritage. Beginning at the age of three, Raya devoted her life to classical music by playing piano and singing opera. At the age of 13, however, Raya turned her sights towards pop music and wrote her first pop song. After attaining her bachelor’s degree in acting, Raya moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of being a singer/songwriter. She writes music, does sound healing , plays several instruments, dances, and pursues her acting aspirations. Above all, Raya believes in going towards your dreams, staying loyal to them, and always showing kindness to others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I was feeling isolated as I was growing up because my family and I have been constantly moving to different countries. Also being homeschooled and my long hour piano practices didn’t let me have any close friends. All my life has been dedicated to music and, honestly speaking I don’t regret any of it.
Moving to LA by myself was a huge challenge for me, as everything was new to me and it has taking me a while to adjust to a lifestyle I have never experienced before. Taking any jobs just to pay my bills was one of the issues I have faced while living here. I am sure anyone can relate to that, because working and doing music is not the easiest thing to do =)
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a classically trained musician, that’s that reason I love creating cinematic & healing music with a deep message. I write songs about problems of our society, thus reflecting on times we are living in. Making music to be heard and not only pursuing popularity is what keeps me going. Dedicating my songs to God, Love is my priority.
I talk about it in my latest song:
“Falling in your arms.”
When I moved to Los Angeles (that was my childhood’s dream that seemed impossible), I have realized that Hollywood is a beautiful cover for frustration, disappointment, and suffering. Many people sacrifice things they care about the most for fame. Unfortunately, that’s the price. After a certain period of time of living in illusion, I reached the point where I had to take a break in order to save myself and and stay loyal to my soul. I had to get back to my relationship with God & Creator. Once again, I started questioning my morals, priorities and values. We should never sell ourselves for fame and success just to show everyone our worth. If we lose yourself — we lose literally everything.
What makes you happy?
“WRITING MUSIC – SPEAKING MY TRUTH. I promised myself to be real and change peoples’ lives for better. I found my purpose and I will always stay loyal to it.
Also, I am very excited about my upcoming release “I’m okay”. Not many of us are brave enough to speak out, be different and get out of the box of judgements we are trapped in. This song is about being unique, being proud of yourself and your story regardless of obstacles and challenges we face. I didn’t have a happy Californian childhood and my tough past has shaped me into a person I am very proud of. I am proud of who I am, my story and my family. “I’m okay will be released on October 15th”
