Rising Stars: Meet Natalie Aguilar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Aguilar.

Hi Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was 16 years old, I had horrible eczema that covered my back, elbows and face. Every dermatologist I went to only prescribed cortisone cream. Cortisone cream helped but the burning itch and red patches of eczema remained.

As my friends used their money to buy the newest Mac eyeshadow color, I used my money to purchase a $200 Yves Saint Laurent face cream from Nordstrom. I clearly remember the YSL beauty specialist gave me a ‘gift with purchase.’ It included a serum, toner, eye cream and some makeup. This $200 cream did not help, but it opened my mind to the world of skincare. I was now aware that there was more than just creams, there was a plethora of serums and products, and in these products there was ingredients. As soon as I graduated high school, I got hired by Biotherm skincare, then Chanel skincare followed by Shu Uemura, La Mer and more! These brands taught me so much and they supported me through college. I was also able to manage my eczema by using products that contained quality ingredients. Shortly after becoming an aesthetician, I enrolled into nursing school because I knew I had to work in Dermatology. Nursing school taught me that internal health is reflected by our skin. I suddenly realized that my stress, lack of self-care, as well as a bad teenage diet was to blame for my eczema.

After graduating Nursing school, I got hired by one of the biggest Dermatologists in Beverly Hills. It was there that I was able to put everything I have ever learned into action. I was also able to master all of the newest & highly sensitive treatments in the market. I realized that many Dermatologists and doctors that I have met were quick to prescribe Cortisone cream and medications -but hardly ever took time to explain that diet, self-care, & stress-management could drastically improve many skin conditions. After many years of working in a Dermatology office, I decided to open my own skincare business along with my best friend and sister Nadia. I knew that by having my own office, I could take the time to listen and care for people’s skin by using any brand I wanted and trusted. I would also be able to teach them how to properly care for their skin. So I used all my savings, maxed my credit cards and opened shop.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The struggles it took to get where I am today exceed today’s struggles by far leaving my sister and I with daily gratitude. I remember opening my door the first day. We didn’t even have one client. We didn’t even study business. But we went to work everyday, we kept reading and learning about the latest and greatest brands and treatments. We attended every convention and class. Before I knew it, our one client turned into 3, then 15 and then it just kept growing. I also always knew I was destined to work with Celebrities. I just knew in my heart that I was that good. And now I have a few NDA’s signed. My hands have worked on so many faces. And no matter how hard it was to get here, watching my clients on the big screen, commercials and red carpets, as well as witnessing someone’s acne, or discoloration, disappear gives me a sense of gratitude that I will never be able to explain.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our skincare business is female (and sister) owned. My sister Nadia and I share a huge passion for all things skincare. We travel to different states and countries to find the latest and greatest treatments that actually work. We are trained in many skincare procedures and carry several different brands because we have learned that there is no singular brand that works for everyone. Everyone has different skin and different needs. What really sets us apart is that other than being aestheticians, we are also nurses. The clients we do have, have been with us for so long they have become family. We are known for making skin glow healthy and naturally, for helping people reach their skin goals and for our hard work, love, honesty and integrity.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There is one person that deserves so much credit, not only is this person my best friend and co-founder, of N4 but she also happens to be my sister. She is also the first person clients meet when they come into the office. My sister Nadia has always been my first client for all the newest & latest treatments. Some great like our lifting & sculpting facial and some horrible like the time we applied the most painful, burning acidic peel ever made and we ran in circles screaming. Not only does she manage my schedule, our inventory and stay on top of all city regulations, she also helps me with my personal life whether it’s babysitting my newborn daughter or giving me advice. She’s my business partner but as soon as we head home, we shift into sister mode. I am so blessed to have a sister like Nadia.
