Rising Stars: Meet Myrna Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myrna Delgado.

Hi Myrna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
This is a love story. In the tragedy that is our story, if there’s anything I want to ensure is understood is that the power of love transcends all things and survives all things.

In September 2017, I was engaged to the love of my life. Quickly after our engagement, we started wedding planning, venue hunting and trying to make our perfect day come to fruition. In our search, I was taken back by the cost and restrictions most venues had. While my fiance simply wanted to marry me in any setting in front of anyone, I was caught up with the details and particulars. Because we couldn’t find the perfect venue, I prolonged putting a date to our wedding.

During that time, my father, who has truly been a gift from God to me, purchased a horse as his companion and best friend to live out the last years of his life. He loves this horse and would go every day twice a day from LA to Chino just to feed him and spend time with him because he wanted to make sure the horse knew he was loved. It was always a dream of mine to retire my dad, to finally pay him back for everything he had done for my sisters and I.

During COVID, we were presented with a unique opportunity to purchase a 2-acre ranch in Perris, Ca. My Fiance, dad and I went to visit the property and immediately fell in love. My FIance let me know that since we couldn’t find the perfect venue, he would build it for me in our backyard and we would then rent it out for other families to celebrate their special day. I was excited for the future and even more so absolutely grateful that God was going to allow me to build a business with my two greatest loves – my dad and my fiance.

After nights of dreaming, and planning – down to the smallest detail – the name, the dimensions, the fencing, everything was discussed. We finally moved into the property. Unfortunately, God had other plans for us because 3 weeks after moving in, my fiance was killed in an accident on his way back from work. He was 3 mins away from home.

His passing was something I couldn’t have prepared for, it was something I wasn’t sure I would be able to survive. I became very ill, was hospitalized, but during my hospital stay I felt like Esbay, my fiance, came to me and strengthened me and reminded me of our mission. Out of desperation, I asked my dad if he was willing to work with me and head on this venture with me- we knew what we wanted to accomplish, but honestly had no idea how we would get there.

He said yes, and over tears and prayers, we promised each other that we would see Love Song Venue through and that its existence would be a physical reminder of the power of love and everything that Esbay meant for us.

Flash forward to today and I have been blessed to host over 70 weddings for the most amazing couples. Our venue is growing and has so much support from the community. I really feel like my angel has been looking over us every step of the way and that Love Song Venue is part of God’s redemptive plan for my life. God knew how much pain I would be in after losing Esbay, but He has allowed me to live out our dream. I don’t want anyone to ever stall their wedding because they can’t find the perfect place or don’t have 50k to spend on a wedding. I don’t want anyone to ever miss out on that special day like I did.

My hope is that everyone sees that love conquers all.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Outside of dealing with excruciating grief, my father and I have had to work through health issues and financial challenges.

We were down one income with a mortgage to pay.

My dad had 4 shoulder surgeries resulting from years of working as a laborer in the union, putting his body through a lot in order to bring home a check for his girls.

I had to have an emergency surgery during my hospital stay where they discovered that my heart was very weak – my cardiologist couldn’t rationalize it and determined it may be broken heart syndrome. I had 4 heart procedures, an ostomy and its reversal all while trying to build Love Song Venue.

There were several moments where I wasn’t sure if I had the strength or even know how I would continue – But God hasn’t failed me and has been providing in the most miraculous ways.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Love Song Venue specializes in celebrating Life’s greatest moments. We take pride in the service we offer our clients- we honestly try our hardest to make sure their events are everything they deserve.

We aren’t a huge corporation – we are a small but mighty father-daughter team backed by our angel and God. It is truly our goal to work with all clients and give them and their guests a memorable celebration.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity of our city – we have clients from so many different backgrounds and socioeconomic status – but we aim to please them all.

I dislike the need to make money off of every single thing – while we run a profitable business, I think there’s a fine line between profit and greed. I find us falling into the pitfalls of finding happiness at the expense of others versus finding a balance to spread love and happiness.
