Rising Stars: Meet Melanie Samuels and Melissa Coulier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Samuels and Melissa Coulier. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Living Well with Mel and Mel was created upon Melanie and Melissa’s work together as nutritionist/client.

Melissa Coulier was diagnosed with Lupus in 2006. Determined to find a long-term solution to managing inflammation and pain, she began her wellness journey. After working with Melanie Samuels, holistic nutritionist and close friend, she discovered a lifestyle that is not only enjoyable but also life-changing when it comes to managing pain through eating a nutrient-dense diet. Melissa is a wellness enthusiast, entrepreneur, award-winning photographer, and a visual branding consultant. She is also the wife of America’s Funniest Uncle, Dave Coulier.

Melanie became a holistic nutritionist after 10 years in the entertainment industry. Her career pivot was rooted in her fascination in nutrition and wellness after years of struggling with disordered eating and a toxic relationship with food. After her certification, she developed her method of a balanced, bio-individual way of eating and living that looks at the whole picture of a person.

Together, they molded their personal crafts in order to offer a wellness space that celebrates each person as an individual with specific needs to manage inflammation and live a healthy life. Living Well with Mel and Mel is your one-stop shop to a personalized wellness journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our road has had smooth points, speed bumps, and detours. Each of us have our personal businesses and busy lives, so our business has taken time to grow, and our direction has even changed a few times. However, each detour has made our overall purpose of helping others more clear. We are building a community and are in the process of creating goods that will help people on their wellness journey. This process is slow in order to get it right.

Also, as close friends, it was a risk going into business together. Not all friends are meant to work together. However, we shared a similar purpose and that was a strong foundation to build upon. We have different personalities and traits, but it truly makes our partnership stronger. Different perspectives make the road ahead much clearer.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Living Well with Mel and Mel’s mission is to provide an inclusive community that celebrates bio-individuality and uses all aspects of your life to manage inflammation.

Our website features articles, recipes, wellness trends, and more. We are also active on Instagram and love doing Lives to connect with you and answer your questions about wellness and living an anti-inflammatory life. We are also in the process of creating goods that will help bring your personal wellness journey to life.

We are most proud of the way in which we look at an anti-inflammatory life through a wide lens. Oftentimes, certain protocols or advice about health focuses on only one aspect of your life, such as food. While nutrition is certainly important in this journey, we factor in all aspects of your life including mindfulness, movement, relationships, connection, environment, sleep, and even how you present yourself to the world. Each one of these important elements in your life make a big difference in how you thrive.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
To us, the most important quality we share is listening to our gut and staying true to ourselves. This business is deeply rooted in our passion, so it should feel right every step of the way. We approach each decision we make with authenticity. If something doesn’t feel right, together, we decide to pass. In other words, we make decisions that feel in alignment with who we are and what we believe.
