Rising Stars: Meet Maddi Manheimer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddi Manheimer.

Hi Maddi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started taking photos when I was very young, but It wasn’t until I took a darkroom class in high school that I discovered my forever passion. I love being able to show others how I view the world through my camera lens. I graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a BFA in Fashion Photography. I moved to LA shortly after graduating, working for an entertainment company shooting red carpet and celebrity events. I have recently broadened my work into videography and social media content creation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The Covid pandemic changed everything for me. All of the work I was doing was put on hold. I had to reinvent myself, push forward and continue to develop my craft in other ways. I found a need in social media to manage and create content for small-business clients in various markets. It has been challenging to build that business one client at a time, but it’s rewarding to use my photography and videography to help my client’s businesses.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a fashion and portrait photographer. My art is inspired from and has elements of other art forms. I take risks with my photography and experiment with different viewpoints in an abstract way. I like to break standards and create images that draw in the viewer and give them a reason to study them more. Although I do some black and white photography, my photographs are primarily in color. I’m also a videographer mostly creating social media content, but I have a shot a music video, which I really loved and hope to do more soon. I’m most proud of how much i’ve accomplished in a short amount of time. I’m excited where my career is headed.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My creativity and believing in myself. I thrive on thinking outside the box for my customer’s benefit. I also think it’s important to believe in yourself. You are the only one writing your story and therefore the only one accountable for your success.
