Rising Stars: Meet Karima Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karima Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Just one year after I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2013, I landed my first full-time job as a Marketing Coordinator for a small graduate school. This opportunity allowed me to not only get creative in marketing and advertising but really allowed me to dive more into designing. Fast forward to 2017, I began having the desire to do more with design and website development. I really wanted to work with more diverse audiences which then sparked the birth of Dreamworth Pr in July of 2017. Dreamworth Pr was a small design agency where I believed in being a one-stop shop for all things design (website development, flyers, logos, public relations, etc.). The business really took off, I began working with so many different entrepreneurs in different industries. However, about six months in I began to get business fatigue burnout because so many people were attracted to not only my work but my price point — I was cheap!

I really prided myself on believing that affordable meant I had to be cheap and that mentality really pushed me further into burnout. Over the course of the following year, I began to really start gradually increasing my pricing and being strategic with my processes and business operations. In 2019, I rebranded Dreamworth PR as Dreamworth & company and really focused on being a website design and system solutions agency. I niched down specifically to working solely on Wix and Squarespace platforms. As well niched down to the target audience I really wanted to work with — women entrepreneurs who have growing service-based businesses.

Fast forward to today and Dreamworth and continuously thriving and I am scaling up even more by working with small to medium nonprofit organizations and companies.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has had a few bumps in the road but all have been amazing and valuable learning lessons. Over these five and a half years in Dreamworth, I struggled with being confident in my pricing and believing in my own value. It was not until I created a unique strategy that I was able not second my pricing and also I was able to see and receive leads (i.e., people interested in my services) daily.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Christian entrepreneur who loves website design and helping women entrepreneurs create systems and automation funnels in their businesses. I specialize in Wix and Squarespace website design. As well, I specialize in Dubsado system set-ups for busy professionals who need to streamline and automate certain areas in their business. I am primarily known for my Wix website designs. Unlike most website designers, I want my clients to feel comfortable in confident in managing their website after I complete it, so I always provide my clients with website walkthroughs to help them navigate the back end of their website and be able to make cosmetic updates/changes on a day to day basis. As of 2019, I have become a Wix expert due to my captivating website designs. I am most proud of how much I have accomplished in Dreamworth and I was still working full-time as the Marketing Coordinator of the graduate school.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in “luck”. I believe in Christ and from the moment I started Dreamworth, I prayed and sought him to help me with client projects, figure out what systems I should purchase for my business and what networking events I should attend.
