Rising Stars: Meet Ja

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ja. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Ja started her life as a painter in New York in early 2020. She describes her first time painting as similar to a spiritual awakening, explaining how she found purpose through her art. Months later, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in fine art.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most of the struggles Ja encountered on her journey were internal struggles. She expresses her need to step back from her art several times in order to fully absorb the piece and understand herself as an artist.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ja is a multidisciplinary artist but leads a strong focus in her work as a painter. Although she is most known for her ability to create on a canvas, she is also known for her work in modeling. “I feel what sets me apart from others is definitely my mind. I’m forever grateful for the mind that I have and the creativity that I have. But being able to use both to create with different types of creatives under different types of art forms is such an amazing feeling. Photography, modeling, creative direction- to editing music videos and painting- it’s an incredible experience to feel that purpose you feel being fulfilled!”

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
“I can definitely see myself throwing a couple of gallery showings of my own personal work and being a part of other gallery showings in the upcoming years. I’m excited to see how my art will develop and expand over time.”
