Rising Stars: Meet Iesha Moody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iesha Moody.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I started iGlammed Up Cosmetics in 2020, I was coming from a tough battle with anxiety and depression. I had just had my 2nd child a few years prior, and it was taking a lot to get back to my normal self. I didn’t feel as beautiful, I had put on some weight, and I felt like I had lost myself in motherhood.

While in this state I began exploring makeup, watching YouTube videos, and literally practicing every chance I got. This for me was therapeutic. It was a way to express myself. After a while, my husband noticed that I was actually pretty good at it, and he pushed me to start doing makeup on other people.

I’d practice on my cousins and soon after I began taking paid clients. Once I began taking clients, I quickly realized just how expensive makeup was and how bad some of the quality of the makeup was compared to its price. This motivated me to begin researching how to create my own cosmetic line.

I wanted to create a cosmetic line that not only made you look good but also made you feel good when you used the products. I wanted products that were affordable and were for every level of makeup artistry. I wanted to create products for young girls and women who may have lost their selves in motherhood or other areas of life and put themselves on the back burner.

In April 2020, I launched iGlammed Up Cosmetics with just four products (foundation, glitter pigments, lip liners, and liquid lipsticks). Every weekend myself, my cousins, and my best friend would get together at my home to do photo shoots. I’d do everyone’s makeup and we’d use my ring light, poster board as a backdrop, and my iPhone 11. Some of these photos are now in the biggest beauty magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Cosmopolitan.

iGlammed Up Cosmetics now has over fifty products that we sell worldwide. We’ve grown so much in just a little over two years and have so much further to go.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a business owner is never a smooth road. There will always be hurdles and obstacles, you just have to weather the storm and get through them.

I’ve managed to not have many major hurdles and that is a blessing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
iGlammed Up Cosmetics is a luxury, affordable cosmetic brand founded in 2020 with the mission of changing the way that being luxurious is perceived.

I created this brand because as a mom, like many others I began to lose myself in the everyday life of motherhood. I began to forget how important making myself feel good was needed in my everyday routine.

I wanted to create products that made you look and feel like luxury every single time that you used them. I wanted to create products that were easy to apply, safe to use and made you want to be luxurious every day.

Whether lashes & gloss or a full GLAM face, I want our GLAM babes to know that when you look good, you feel good and that you should look and feel good on every occasion. Whether going on a romantic date or just a run to your favorite department store… GET GLAMMED UP!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those who are just starting out would be to JUMP! So many times, we want to wait until we have “all of our ducks in a row” but truth is you’ll never have all of them in a row. Start where you are with what you have and never let fear consume you. The very thing that you’re afraid to do could be the very thing that’ll change your life forever.

Also, don’t be discouraged to start a business because “the market is saturated”. There can be a million businesses like yours but none of them will do it like you.
