Today we’d like to introduce you to Iaroslav and Liliia Bieliei.
Hi Iaroslav and Liliia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We both started to dance in Kyiv, Ukraine at age of 6 and 4 years old. We have been professional ballroom dance competitors for 25 years and about 9 years ago moved to United States to continue our career. Here we have achieved a great success by becoming US Professional Champions and being placed 2nd in the World in Show Dance.
During the last year of our professional career us together with our investors started to work on KOLO Dance Show, where we were creators of the original idea and Executive Producers.
Our connections in the dance world helped us so much and we were able to hire best of the best of the industry to perform at the show. Right now it is our full-time job that we are very excited about!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a professional dance competitor us always a bumpy road- from challenges with traveling back in Ukraine and financial difficulties to afford training to various ups and downs and enormous pressure competing as an adult. We always saw it as a life experience and managed to walk away stronger and stronger every time. And most important- together. We always supported each other.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being Executive Producer of stage shows is hard but at the same time very exciting. Definitely a job not for everybody! The exciting part is of course to deal with so much talent and to make things work as one unit.
We have met so many great artists and talented people among the way. Talking about KOLO, we have been uniting Dance, Visual Art and Music together to tell the story of the show.
No one can know everything and same goes with us. We see the world through the dance lens and working with musicians it was really eye-opening experience to how they perceive music and movement with some differences from us. Those things are really important as you are constantly learning not only about others but also discovering new things in your own personality.
We are most proud that with our work we have a possibility to reach out to people and deliver to them a positive cultural experience. Both entertaining and educative. With KOLO Dance Show project we are promoting Ukrainian Culture in the most nonpolitical and neutral way.
We are very proud for KOLO Dance Show Original Soundtrack release on December 14, 2022. 22 Original music Arrangments of Ukrainian folk and popular songs from the Show. Truly a dream come true for us!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We are an open book for people who know us. Pretty much they get what they see. Lol.
