Rising Stars: Meet Helene Immel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Helene Immel.

Hi Helene, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Life has made me a lot of things, I am a singer, a songwriter, a musician, and now I also sell real estate! My father was in music when I was a kid so I was always around studios, music, and from the young age of four till about nine played the violin then picked up the guitar and piano later down the line. I was born in Germany but my family is originally from Russia. Growing up it was hard to fit in, my family was a big one I am the oldest of seven kids so music was a way for me to express myself in a way that I couldn’t any other way. My music project is under the alias ‘Lenachka’ an endearing form of my Russian name Yelena.

Long story shortish, I got into music fell in love with it and was fortunate enough to work with very talented successful people who believed in me and wanted to see me succeed. I started writing a lot, moved to Nashville even for a month, and then need up back in LA. I currently live between both LA and Sacramento where my family is. I hardly ever came up here before but after covid got really close to my family again and decided to start a real estate business and I am so happy that I did! it allows me the freedom to pursue music and stay creative but also able to scale a business that allows me financial flexibility.

I do have three singles that I will at some point release this year. They are songs I wrote about a heartbreak I experienced during the lockdowns. I was with this person for two years and we were good friends for many years before then. We had a home together and animals and I thought I knew what my life was going to look like with him, and was very blindsided when he ended our relationship. Needless to say, going through a break-up during Covid was brutal, I lost a job at the time, no longer had a place to live, was mourning my relationship, and didn’t know what I was going to do, or how I would even do it while the world was falling apart around me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, far from smooth. I worked with sleazy people along the way that took advantage of my talents and my inability to stand up for myself, I got screwed out of deals and money because I didn’t get attorneys to involve in certain agreements and ended up losing a lot of time working with the wrong people. But hey, it wouldn’t be a music career without a story like that would it? In real estate tho it’s been entirely different. I work for myself, I don’t answer to anyone and don’t rely on anyone. Although that comes with its own challenges, the rewards have been incredible! Put in the work and you will see a result!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So now I am first and foremost a Real Estate agent and I service primarily the Sacramento area and surrounding regions. I would like to sell real estate in Los Angeles eventually too, I am licensed to work anywhere in the state of California and I spent over 10 years in LA so know it like the back of my hand. Just so happens that I do most of my business in NorCal.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Oh yes, keep your family close. There is so much uncertainty in the world we live in even now coming out of the pandemic, but your family (not all but mine for sure) will always be there to support me and that’s invaluable.
