Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Eliazim.
Hi Byron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico (La isla del encanto). We left Puerto Rico for a better life, I guess. Fast-forwarding a little bit, I learned a lot throughout the years. I fell in love with all things movies, tv shows, and the internet. I went to college to study Film & Television Production and with that; moved to California to pursue my career in the film industry. Then Tiktok came out…You can already tell what I ended up doing, haha.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Growing up gay in a conservative state isn’t easy. I don’t think I have to get down to the details as to how that can be uneasy for a person, but I will say this. That anger turned into determination. That determination turned into a fiery passion that fueled me to do everything in my power to get where I am today. I like to think my journey isn’t done yet. I have a long way to go. Moving from Puerto Rico to the states was a huge change. Something I wasn’t accustomed to yet. I went through a lot throughout the years. School, friends, family. It wasn’t easy trying to figure out who I was at the time and having to deal with bullying, taunting, name-calling, you name it. See what I did there? That can destroy the mentality of a kid. BUT, instead of letting it get the best of me (I won’t lie to you though, someone’s I wasn’t strong enough to ignore it all, or maybe it was just too much for a kid?), I decided to keep my head held high and think of everything that happened to me from that moment forward as challenges. Challenges that I would complete in order to get to my happy place.
Fast forward to now. I went to college, I moved to my dream state, California baby, or is it California dreaming? Maybe I am dreaming. Best dream ever though! Trying to make a positive change in the world for the LGBTQ+ community can be challenging. Especially trying to make a change in a country (Puerto Rico) where our “lifestyle” isn’t always necessarily welcomed. Change can be challenging, but we will get there. I make little Tiktoks for my Latino audience and anyone else who likes to listen. Shoutout to Brazil! I like to think my Tiktok is my happy place. I can be myself there, but more importantly, everyone can be themselves there. There ain’t no judgment here. Again I say, I like to think my journey isn’t done yet. I have a long way to go.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Asides from Tiktok and social media, I am one with the acting classes (LGBTQ+ actor in the making) and Art Department. At least the Set Dressing and Designing aspect. I feel like if I wouldn’t have moved to Cali to pursue film, I would have become an Interior Designer. Maybe even a Psychologist. There’s not one specific thing that is bigger than another in respect to what I am most proud of. I am proud of myself, maybe that’s a little selfish, but I am proud of how far I’ve gone. Almost out into space, far. Everything I have; determination, passion, love, respect, creativity, etc., everyone has. It’s what you do with all of that that sets you apart from the rest.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There’s a lot of things that make me happy. If I had to choose one, it would be friendship and the good ‘ole times you have with friends. It’s what keeps me going every day.
