Today we’d like to introduce you to Boris Ackerman.
Boris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I became intrigued by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in medical school. After finishing my residency training, I was recruited by a prestigious senior Plastic Surgeon in Newport Beach. After a few years, I established my own private practice, specializing in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In a rather short time, I developed a strong following and a thriving practice.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own practice as a young physician had a certain set of challenges. In addition to taking care of the patients and having hospital responsibilities, I had to navigate the usual tasks and obstacles of starting a business of setting up my own clinic. The challenges were significant but overcoming them was quite rewarding.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Over the years, my practice narrowed to the field of Aesthetic Facial Rejuvenation surgery, such as facelifts and eyelid surgery. Some years ago, I set out to learn the best techniques from renown surgeons around the world. This narrow specialization allowed me to refine and perfect the best approach to facelift surgery. I am one of the pioneers of Deep Plane Facelift technique. I also designed Ackerman Facelift Retractor, an instrument that aids with performing this type of facelift. My operating room is open to other surgeons wishing to learn my approach to facelift surgery.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I set out to be the best at what I do – Deep Plane Facelift. It took specific plan, effort, and perseverance to achieve that, there are no shortcuts.
