Rising Stars: Meet Ayla El-Moussa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayla El-Moussa.

Hi Ayla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
What is interesting was the last interview I did with you, I spoke about how the next steps for me were to blockchain and code my work….well fast forward 3 years, and I am now creating, exhibiting, and selling my art on chain or the buzzword everyone is familiar with “NFTs” (nonfungible tokens)

It has been a long road in the making since 2016 but I have found the space that understands the vision and is also part of what could be considered a renaissance in art history.

I am still creating my moving art- a combination of self-portraiture and drone footage which I combine together to create surreal worlds or as I call them my “visual philosophies”. I mint them onto a platform called SuperRare which is a curated digital art platform that digitally exhibits art.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a bumpy road – but if it was easy, I don’t think it would be as fulfilling.

My vision has always been very clear but the biggest struggle was trying to find people to understand what I was trying to do- I was turned down by art agents and galleries telling me that no one would be interested in my digital work and that it wouldn’t be displayable properly in order to sell the pieces or that I wasn’t established enough.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My proudest moment was that I never let anyone tell me no…I just kept creating and searching for a place that would understand what I was trying to do. I would say that I have been quite successful in the “NFT” space as a distinguished artist- my style is very recognizable with the surreal wave in the sky, a self-portrait of my nude figure in some beautiful natural location. I use a combination of photography and video to tell my story and remind all of us that we are part of nature and not dominant to it.

As it seems to be custom with these interviews I will drop a little hint of what is coming next- I will be bridging the gap between digital and physical art – and I am now working on sculptures but I will share more when the time comes.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family for sure who have always supported my wild crazy ideas. My brother who is an incredible digital artist himself Yakob El-Moussa and someone I am constantly chatting with in the metaverse.

My web three mentors & collectors Punk 6529, Pravijn, Anesti Dhima, NorcalGuy
