Rising Stars: Meet Aliyah Ross-Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Ross-Thomas.

Hi Aliyah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My business journey started in 2017 when we were known as “ Hollie T. Photography” focusing solely on Still work. Now “Aliyah Co., INC” (reinvented 2021) started aiming to inspire wardrobe sustainability with both, specifics (the wardrobe itself or lack thereof) and space (where you’re actually KEEPING the wardrobe). I established a love for Thrifting and up-cycling at a very early age while living in Central Florida with my dad who was a single parent. We spent plenty of time at Thrift and second-hand stores, swap meets and garage sales. It taught me the patience to search, expanded my creative mind and got me comfortable with outside attention.

I moved to southern California in 2010 and begin to let my creativity shine through my wardrobe. I learned to wear whatever Made me feel good, I even learned how to dress The way I WANTED to feel that day. I remember loving how that made ME feel: confident, strong, badass, unbothered, and then soon realizing “I want to share this”.

In 2020 I started sharing with social media something I’ve been taught since birth, to be sustainable and make the ABSOLUTE BEST with what you have. I demonstrate how to search and put together Thrift looks totaling as low as $10. I have taken the values that I have been taught from my parents and grown them into an extremely unique and powerful business. With services offered like: ‘declutter/organize’ coaching, Pro and Personal styling, ‘Thrift’ coaching and Photography, we at Aliyah Co., Inc strive to make a life-changing difference in our client’s worlds. Our goal is for all of California ( for now) to know who we are and what we deliver. If you’re in need of order, confidence boost, and/or an increase on peace ACI is for you.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. Most of the struggle came/comes from lack of support and building the proper team. Getting over your own personal triggers and traumas are a huge part as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well, I do a lot Lol, but it all ties together. Our services include:
– ‘Declutter/organize’ wardrobe coaching (specialized)
– Professional and personal styling (specialized)
– ‘Thrift’ coaching
– And photography
Originally I was known for photography since that’s what the business was built on, but now Im known for my thrifting and my eye-catching sense of fashion.

I’m most proud of the pro and personal styling this business has endured in. It allows clients to be adventurous with their clothing, explore another part of “ them” and makes them uncomfortable (which we all know, is where we grow the most).

How do we set ourselves apart from others? Simple, there is no other business in southern California that offers the combination of services we do. At ACI we are set to change the perspective of the wardrobe closet and your own wardrobe.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love absolutely everything about Los Angeles, no dislikes. Most importantly, the culture.

Pricing:

  • ‘Declutter/organize’ wardrobe coaching – $1200 per standard closet
  • Pro and personal styling – $$ determined after consulting
  • ‘Thrift’ coaching – $800
  • Photography – $300 per hour/ 2 hr minimum
