Rising Stars: Meet Aline & Wes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aline & Wes.

Hi Aline &, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
“I have always been a fan of rock music and rock voices that are more melodic. I was a fan of one of Wes’s bands and would envision myself singing along with him. I felt some connection to him because of his lyrics and the way he was singing. He asked if I would like to collaborate, and we started the band, Aline & Wes. We create music easily together.” Aline Vida

“I happened to be at a venue in Seattle where Aline was playing, and I was taken aback by her voice, which I found so powerful, unique, and beautiful.

While her band was really good, I wasn’t sure if it was the right fit, and in the back of my mind, I thought I could write songs with and for that voice.” Wes Speight

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“I would like us to be able to tour all of the major cities in the US and Europe, which would require financing. I would like for our following to grow beyond Washington state. I sometimes find it difficult to navigate building a following and wonder how to go about that via all social media/music streaming platforms. We receive a lot of great feedback, but I wish we had more fans who could assist with getting the word out about us. I would like our music to receive more commercial radio play, but a major radio station DJ once told me that they do not have the pull to play independent artists. Major radio stations should play music from independent artists because all artists were independent at one time. I believe in our music.” Aline Vida

“It’s been pretty smooth, but of course, there are struggles such as being able to afford to tour, have connections to get on radio stations and festivals, and sometimes (but thankfully rarely), scheduling conflicts.” Wes Speight

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
“I am a teacher and have been teaching high school and middle school for 8 years now. I love my job and how it allows me the free time to be able to continue to pursue my passions for creating art.

I love writing songs so much that sometimes it’s sad when the process is over when you have to decide that the song is finished. I started producing and engineering some other artists 8 years ago and I’ve slowly continued to hone in that skill to where I can produce some of the Aline & Wes music, which is a lot of fun, especially since I’m also a part of the songwriting process.

Our first EP, “Lavendar Lemonade” got some really good press, it while it was a good EP and a great freshmen release to give audiences an idea of what Aline&Wes is, it was a little sad that our sophomore EP, “Armageddon of Love” didn’t get much notoriety because it was 2020 and”

Wes Speight

“I work for an entertainment company that books musicians. I am a musician who likes the business of music and creating music.

I enjoy songwriting, but I love performing songs the most. and connecting with an audience emotionally.

If I could travel and sing nine months out of the year, I would love to do that. I feel most comfortable performing and on the stage.”

Aline Vida

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
“I think we will see music used virtually in places like the metaverse. Technology will be used to have a different kind of concert experience. I am excited to see that. I hope people still contribute to musicians in person and not just via streaming platforms.” I hope that people contribute to art more.” Aline Vida

“I’m not sure where else it can go at this point since it shifted to streaming. It seems to me that people are still digging live music, which is great because I can’t imagine that ever going away.” Wes Speight
