Meet Zondra Wilson of Blu Skin Care in Hawthorne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zondra Wilson.

Zondra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Blu Skin Care was created after years of being asked what I used on my skin. My family is from the South and my mom and aunt would tell me stories about how they couldn’t afford expensive skin care products and how they used natural ingredients like Olive and Coconut Oils. I noticed that their skin was so soft and smooth and had very few (if any) wrinkles. So, I tried using some of these ingredients and haven’t looked back.

Having worked as a model for dozens of companies like Merz, Best Buy and Revlon, I know what it takes to stay young looking and to maintain great looking skin, so I eventually decided to launch a USDA certified organic skin care line. “Blu” manufacturers the only American-made USDA certified organic powdered facial cleanser sold in the United States. I’m also the only female, African American owner, manufacturer & distributor of a skin care company with USDA certified organic accreditation in the United States.

“Blu” prides itself on sourcing the purest and most potent ingredients including organic in all of its formulations.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride, by any means. It all started when I felt a calling from God to move to Los Angeles to get into the acting industry. Although, I love the entertainment industry, it was very difficult for me to be obedient and go.

Eventually, in 2004 I made the transition and moved to LA.

Through my prayers, God told me that it wouldn’t be easy. He said I would come up against opposition. But I had no clue what the oppositions would be. I thought I was moving to LA to ONLY become an actress, but lo and behold, God put me on another path in starting an organic skin care line.

Blu Skin Care, LLC is a company that God himself started. I didn’t want to start a skin care line, I was content with my modeling and entertainment career.

I thought, “I’m an actress. It makes more sense for me to stick with television shows and films.”

I’d lie in bed and hear God say over and over, “Start a skin care line.” I’m like, “Oh yeah? With what money, God?”

I started to think I was crazy. I called a few trusted friends and confessed, “I believe I’m hearing God tell me to start a skin care line. Pray that I’m actually hearing from Him.” Come to find out. I was.

I love the never ending warm weather of Southern California. I dislike the heavy traffic. LOL
