Meet Zenia Anderson of Tiny Lumber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zenia Anderson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was originally a wedding photographer. I loved being a part of the energy, life, joy, and emotion to weddings. But after time, I began to get burnt out. Despite this, I hung onto photography in every way I could – branching into birth photography, family photography, and teaching photography but eventually, left it altogether.

And I was lost. I didn’t know who I was anymore. When people asked me what I did for a living, I could say, “Oh hi, I’m a photographer” and now I didn’t have an answer. I searched my soul and new professions. I read books like “The Happiness Project,” by Gretchen Rubin. I thought I should be a nurse.

At the same time, I moved to a little place called Topanga Canyon. I was inspired by the canyon, the trees, the culture.

This inspiration led me to create Tiny Lumber ® – a little jewelry brand born out of my quest to feel happy again, about enjoying the little things in life, and about appreciating the ins and outs of the day to day. And with this, I had found my way again.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road definitely has not been smooth! I had no experiencing creating or selling a product.

My education is from the business section of Barnes and Nobles.

But the feeling that someone would actually give you their hard-earned money and love your product is amazing at the end of the day and this feeling propelled me to keep going despite challenges.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tiny Lumber story. Tell us more about the business.
Tiny Lumber sells handmade, wooden earrings and necklaces. Our earring backs are made of titanium for people with sensitive ears (like me!) and our necklaces can be engraved with meaningful messages.

For me, Tiny Lumber is a way for me to express the idea of finding joy in every day and stay grounded and connected to Earth.

Pricing:

  • $12 – Wooden Square Earrings
