Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Rose.
Yvette, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 1999, I learned I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned, I was on birth control. I was 12-weeks pregnant and there was no turning back. At the time, I treated my body and mind like it wasn’t worthy. I ate crap, did drugs, smoked cigarettes and drank a lot. This baby needed a fighting chance. I needed to figure out how I can make up for the damage I may have already done.
I decided on natural childbirth, I changed the way I ate, I stopped drinking, smoking and drugs. He was born sick. He came home sick. He cried all day and night. It wasn’t a regular cry it was a screaming cry. He had skin rashes and stomach swelling. Breastfeeding wasn’t his thing, although I went for it and managed 8-weeks to the day. He wouldn’t give you eye contact and he did not want to be touched. I quit my job and began to learn what it meant to take care of my son.
I started going to yoga classes, attended workshops on detoxing and learned about attachment parenting. I was determined to help my baby feel better and what I learned was that it meant I had to get better too. Together he and I went on a journey of healing. I wanted to share what I learned with more women and moms and without trying I was offered a job at Equinox where I gave workshops for new moms and prenatal moms on nutrition and exercise. I built my reputation as being a tough trainer for those who wanted to get serious on changing their lifestyle. I was a hard ass and determined to make my clients strong, healthy and thin.
As I built my reputation, I was able to tap into some amazing, strong women who put their all into getting fit, but for some reason, I wasn’t seeing the result I expected, so I went into their homes. I began to cook for them, follow their lifestyles a bit more closely to see how I can support them in not just weight loss, but also their mindset. I created a meal plan based on giving guidelines as to what you should be eating throughout your day that would support a desired mood, help stay healthy, balance hormones and still lose weight.
I built my business on this method, the Joulebody Cleanse, the first e-commerce prepped detox meal program delivered nationally. That is where I stayed for 7-years. During the last year, my childhood best friend/soul-sister was diagnosed with glioblastoma. She was a new mom, yoga teacher and nutrition coach. I helped take care of her. I made her foods, I took her to the hospital for treatments, I massaged her, I cried with her and I laughed with her. I stayed with her until she passed away.
I had been so busy taking care of others that I didn’t notice I was breaking down. My hormones were out of wack, my gut was inflamed and my mind was scattered. I had a breakdown, closed my business and went on to learn more about my own health. I had an MRI of my brain, tons of bloodwork, psychiatric evaluations and gut analysis testing. The detox program I built to cleanse the gut in 2007 now has scientific validation. I began to study with leaders in the Gut Health industry, but meanwhile, I never lost the connection I had with knowing energy is all around. Healing comes from our thoughts, our environment, and our food.
In 2017, I began to coach again. This time it was specific to Gut Health, I built a program based on making lifestyle changes that balance hormones, fights inflammation and alleviates discomforts caused by IBS, SIBO or leaky gut.
Today I study with Tarah Bird, a holistic healer who has helped me to get more connected and tune into my higher self, my guides so that I can use that to guide clients on shift they need to make to heal. My program uses the Trifecta of Wellness approach combining science and woo-woo. We can change our diets and exercise but if we don’t believe we will heal, then we will not heal.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road because my story was inspired by my own life’s hardships. I had to help heal a son who had all the characteristics of Aspergers/Autism. I took care of my best friend while she was dying yet trying really hard to be a mom to her new baby. I also had to learn more about me and why I was breaking down.
I was building a business based on health and wellness, meanwhile eating healthy wasn’t healing me, if anything I was getting sicker in my mind.
I didn’t have the financial support to build my business, so I relied on myself to make it happen.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Joule Wellness – what should we know?
I own a company called Joulebody Wellness established in 2007. I started this business offering in-home wellness plans like cooking, exercise, meditation, and yoga. I am now building it to be a coaching business for Gut health. I still guide my clients by using these modalities, however, I also tap into the science behind gut healing and more spiritual practices which allow me to channel information for my clients’ well-being.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
STAMINA. THICK SKIN. PERSEVERANCE.
I don’t give up. Even if it feels as if I should stop I won’t. Instead what I do is I reconnect, readjust and realign myself so that I can hear the messages on what I need to change or who do I need to align with or how can I make something happen.
I’ve learned this is all happening for me. I have a strong purposeful driven message to deliver and I know there is no stopping me from making sure I get it out there.
Time isn’t real. The message will be heard by many when the time is right. For now, it’s dripping into those that need it most or to those that can teach me.
