Meet Christina Jones of Twenty-Eighth & Harmony in The Inland Empire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Jones.

Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was let go. Truthfully, I’ve always been an entrepreneur. I’ve always had a side hustle, outside of my 9-5s. But it wasn’t until I was let go at 28 yrs of age when I thought “ok, it’s time to stop playing and open my business.” I confided in my best friend about it and I brainstormed ideas – and then one day she called me and said “28th and harmony”…I’m like what business is that? She goes “yours”. I literally ran with it. It made sense, I’m harmonizing life and style. So, during my “off” time, I buckled down and started creating my website, from scratch, and just started. It felt right, plus at this point, I had all of the time in the world to build. Design has always been my passion. From celebrations or you’re living aesthetic, I have an eye and talent to make things look pretty. Plus, I’d like to think that your space is your time to relax and heal, so in a sense I contribute to health and wellness. I’ve accumulated all of my clients through word of mouth, so building relationships have been a major part of how I run my business. A big part of my story is my support system. My mom, sister and aunt have been apart of my ‘team’ since the beginning, they help me execute all of my visions. I would not be here with them.

Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, it hasn’t been smooth. I’ve taken breaks from heavily promoting, because of becoming a new mommy. Being a word-of-mouth business is demanding and also, I am a one woman show. I started this business with no money. As mentioned before, I was let go, so at that time I could not spend money on it. I was devoted to doing what I could. Because I have a background in marketing, I had an advantage to web design and other tools, but the hardest part to this is managing everything. Being creative is a gift and a curse.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Twenty-Eighth & Harmony specializes in interior and event design. My sole purpose is to transform a space into a place of luxury, whether it be an event or a home. I believe in experiences. We spend majority of our ‘relax’ time at home, therefore it should be your sanctuary. I want to help people create their sanctuary and to also feel good and confident about having their family and friends over for holidays or birthdays or just to lounge – that’s what’s important to me. Event design is also where my passion lies. I’ve always been the type to celebrate big and small accomplishments, you have one life to live and you should celebrate that! So through my designs, I love creating experiences. And also helping clients get that ‘wow’ out of their guests; for my clients and guests to feel as though they are exclusive.

Twenty-Eighth is known for its affordable luxury design and professionalism. I like to work with my clients budget, but exceed their expectations with the final product. I am also reliable, I can come through for my clients in a crunch or dilemma.

I’ve put myself out there a little more than other designers in my area, from my YouTube channel to my Instagram presence – I just think I’m a little more accessible and relate-able. This is what sets me apart. I’m continuously building and evolving – this is what makes me most proud, that I’m here. I’m most proud of my process.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Inland Empire is probably the best area to start a business of any kind. We are growing so fast, and there is so much opportunity because we are not a huge city. More designers are coming out of the I.E. Now would be a good time to start.
