Meet Trailblazer Sarah Espinosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Espinosa.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am born and raised in Belgium. My family is originally from Spain. I speak multiple languages (French, Spanish & English) I am a professional dancer, choreographer and artistic director. I am signed Bloc LA agency, one of the best talent agency in the US. I moved to the US in 2010, I first lived in NYC for a few years, graduated from the famous international program from Broadway Dance Center then came to Los Angeles to continue my career. I followed my dreams and with consistency and hard work, I am making them come to life. I got the chance to work and share stage with incredible talents and for different amazing projects. I love music, fashion, art, reading, and my favorite one Shopping 🙂 I love to paint on my free time or go to art events. I like to travel and meet different cultures and see what the world has to offer. I am a creative person so I like new challenge every day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had a lot of struggles along the way and still happen til this day. But what I have learned is that struggles are part of our journey to make us the person we suppose to become. The way you will decide to handle those struggles is what makes the difference in your everyday life. I always see the good side and the lesson I am supposed to get out of it. To do and be better for what’s coming next. There is no problem if there is no solution 🙂 Trusting my guts, that never failed me either. Consistency, discipline and believe in yourself and your own magic will make your craziest dreams come alive.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a professional Dancer, Choreographer. I started to teach hip hop and jazz funk class in my country when I was 15-16 years old. I knew from very young I liked to create and especially with movements. I used to choreograph competition dance for a couple of years and won multiple championships. That make me start to travel very young by myself to different européen countries (Italy, London, Paris..) to perform. Then I decided to come learn news styles and train more to pursue my career in NYC. I started to work as a movement coach and artist development. I was a movement coach for one of the commercial of “The today” show on NBC. I also worked with puma as a brand ambassador for some of their sneaker’s collections. I performed for live show for Becky G for two years, performed at the BET award 2015 for Kendrick Lamar, and more. I did multiple music videos with Becky G, Bebe Rexha, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Olivia O Brian…etc. I was a superhero on a XL energy drink commercial and recently for “Tide” superbowl commercial. I also work with upcoming artists, I train them to be comfortable on stage, how to use a stage and perform in front an audience. and many more projects…

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Today women have more opportunities than our mothers, grand mothers, our grand grand mothers… could ever imagined. And I am thankful for that! Those women fought for us to have this freedom and Independence today and we have to cherish it and keep pushing. We have to keep empowering women, especially our young ones. There is one thing I know for a fact that women are great for is to create. We create lives! So I believe we are also great at creating opportunities under any circumstances. We can all do it. It’s 2020, we are stronger than ever, our voices are being heard. I think women are already born in the right position by being a woman. Now it’s time to stop dimming our light and create our own opportunities every time we believe in it!
