Meet Trailblazer Kati Vaarasuo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kati Vaarasuo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kati. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m highly educated woman from Finland. I’ve been doing music whole my life, played violin since I was 4 years old and also sang and played the piano. I created whole different career in Finland as a teacher, principal, leader, security and safety manager and wellness at work specialist in education. I have three grown up kids who live now in Finland. I left everything behind and wanted to start all over. Now, I’m studying music business management in UCLA Extensions, doing music and modeling. I’m really grateful every single day although I miss my loved ones at my home country. I’m living my dream and I made really hard decisions to achieve all this. But I’m example that sometimes you need to just leap and see what the life has you to offer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, the whole life is full of surprises, I think no one’s road is not easy. I’ve faced so many challenges, bullying at school, bullying in my work by a supervisor, people who are jealous, I’ve been left alone many times to struggle, lost my dear mother a few years ago, cheating and so on. But every time I got up and started again. And look where I’m now! I believed in me 1.5 years when nobody else did. I found my way here and now enjoying every single day when I can live, love and laugh and be happy. I did it! And I’m so proud of myself that I didn’t give up.

You have to believe in yourself. You need to realize, that you have just one life to live, it’s your life and you’re responsible to do your own choices. Sometimes, you do bad choices and sometimes better, but every day you have a chance to start again. If you go wrong, change it. Live! If you’re not satisfied, then change something! What makes you happy? What things did you like to do? And think if the world stops tonight, are you happy? Have you lived your life so you’re happy about it? Your happiness can’t depend on other people. Only you can be happy with yourself. But you can be happy with other people too, enjoy life together and be with them cause it makes you feel good.

Believe in yourself. If you are all the answers for a happy life.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Gabbi Music – what should we know?
Well, I’ve done many things in my life. Past 20 years, I’ve been working in education. I’ve been a teacher and principal in elementary school. I wanted to learn more so I did the highest leadership studies and also studied to be wellness at work specialist. I’ve been developing security and safety in schools for over 15 years too.

I’ve been doing also music my whole life. I started to play violin when I was 4 and piano when I was 6 years old. I became a solo violinist and violin and piano teacher at the age of 20. I’ve been singing also all my life.

Now, I’m studying music business management at UCLA and getting to know Los Angeles music life. It’s so amazing to meet awesome people in the music industry here. I’m learning so much all the time. I’m not sure about my path here yet, but I’m open to any kind of suggestions and collaborations. I know that I have many skills that US music and other work fields could benefit from. Just contact me and let’s discuss how I can help. I have so many great ideas and I want to know and learn more all the time.

Now, I’m also starting a collaboration with a few really great producers. Hopefully, we’re creating something really interesting good vibes. 😉

Which women have inspired you in your life?
Oh, many women have been inspiring. I admire women who are strong and they can express themselves, who are supporting and encouraging others and be confident about themselves. I think resilience is really important in life, how you survive your struggles and find your purpose in life. Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, Alicia Keys… just a few to mention.
