Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelina Margo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angelina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a personal trainer, natural pro bikini athlete and meal coach. I have an advance degree with published research in exercise and I love transforming lives and bodies. My clientele goals range from functional fitness, extreme weight-loss, bikini competition prep and posing, pre and post natal exercise, to rehabilitative exercise and senior fitness.
As a teen I loved whipping up my own organic low sugar, low fat, recipes and was often asked for tips on how to get lean. Back then exercising, eating clean and sharing tips was just for fun! Upon earning a degree in Psychology, I founded a support group helping to empower women. Then, after meeting my husband who’s a master trainer, bodybuilding champ and physique competitor, I saw first hand how he not only transformed bodies, but he was transforming lives through fitness and I wanted to be a part of that! Fitness and coaching soon developed into a full time career for me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My fitness journey hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many people, I’ve had to overcome challenges that led me to transform my own body three times. Once after major weight gain, once after late-stage, Lyme’s disease and once after IVF treatments. I’ve gone from being out of shape and extremely weak physically to winning a silver medal at the Natural Olympia, the largest natural bodybuilding organization in the country. That was after winning 4 other consecutive Bikini masters competition wins and earning my Pro card. So, I know first hand, how it feels to want to give up and I know what it takes to get strong, healthy and fit.
If you want to become stronger, more fit or meet any goal, don’t let anything stop you. Focus on your talents and strengths, believe in yourself and surround yourself with people who genuinely love to see you soar. If you work with a trainer, find one who empowers you to look and feel your absolute best!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Angelina Margo Personal Training – what should we know?
I have a wholistic approach to help clients feel refreshed and empowered! My training programs offer exercise, nutrition, and emphasizes a positive “can-do” attitude.
My unique training style incorporates a multitude of various exercises that are engaging to keep clients from getting bored while their body constantly improves. Depending on my client’s preferences, I sometimes add yoga or pilates to the warm ups or cool downs or I’ll add kickboxing and self-defense to the workouts. I’m also really good at making diets very exciting and flavorful and still clean and healthy. So, it’s an enjoyable lifestyle habit instead of a drudgery you don’t like doing.
It’s extremely satisfying to see how my clients start loving how they look and feel, and watching their confidence levels rise as they find themselves able to do things physically that they previously didn’t believe they could do. From flights of stairs, activities and sports, to winning bikini competition trophies.
It’s especially gratifying to hear how my clients back, shoulder or knee pain have gone away as a result of our training. I feel especially proud of those clients who went from feeling doomed to living a sedentary lifestyle or being out of shape due to their previous fitness condition or age, to knowing that getting strong, fit and healthy is for everyone including them. And, of course, I always love hearing the excitement when clients send me pics of themselves in smaller dress sizes!
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Society can sometimes project women as delicate or weak. For example, some believe that women can’t train hard, or that pregnant women can’t train at all. But it’s been proven that women can train hard if they so choose. And, while there are a few limitations for prenatal women, with an ok from your doctor, it’s actually very healthy to train while pregnant.
Another myth I’ve come across is the belief that you shouldn’t or can’t look sexy after a certain age. This is one of my favorite myths to break! Yes, you can actually look sexier than you did decades ago, you can improve with age and get stronger and healthier, too!
Women are more capable than the limitations placed upon them by society. We are smart, loving, compassionate and strong. This makes women well poised to meet any opportunity, from leadership roles to sports, modeling, self-defense and beyond!
