Meet TK Trinidad and Nesha Blair of Center In Skin Care & Candles in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to TK Trinidad and Nesha Blair.

TK and Nesha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We became friends while working at TMZ together. After TMZ, we started doing yoga and workouts together and came up with the idea of starting our own business. We wanted to create something that was all-natural to combat all the toxins that our bodies were being forced to process. Nesha is more of the creative type and she already knew how to make candles, because she was making them to give away as gifts.

So, we first started making and selling candles. We made 50 to start and sold them in less than a week. Our original scent, “Summer Love” is still the most popular scent candle sold to this day. We then wanted to add body butter to our brand. It took us two months to perfect the body butter formula and develop different scents.

Our Negril aka Vanilla /Mango scent is our most popular body butter and then we just add a body wash to go with it. We now have body scrubs, beard oil, beard shampoo, hair oil and hand sanitizer added to our product line. We also offer in-home facial services and online skin consultations done by Nesha who is a licensed esthetician. In our first year, we barely made enough money to order supplies for the products. However, starting in March of 2020, we made more in one month than we made in 2019 and we have been growing ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There has been plenty of times where we didn’t have enough money to cover our own bills, much less paying for supplies for our products. However, we continued to promote the business and with the help of friends and family who believed in our vision, we were able to keep the business afloat.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Center In Skin Care & Candles – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
At Center In, we specialize in making homemade, vegan and all-natural skincare and candle products. We pride ourselves and do extensive research to make sure our products are as natural as possible.
Our most popular products are:
1. Summer Love, Candle
2. Negril (Vanilla/Mango), Body Butter and Body Wash
3. Clipper Ranks Beard Oil

We are most proud of our growth. We went from making what we made in all of 2019, to making that amount in a month. What sets us apart is that we actually make the products from scratch and we pride ourselves on amazing customer service. We treat our customers like we want to be treated.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Living in LA and in particular, the valley is awesome. We are close enough to Los Angeles, so we can drive to pick up supplies and local deliveries to people. There are so many great restaurants up and down Ventura Blvd and in the Valley, that we sometimes have a hard time choosing which restaurant to have our business meetings at. And also, there is space to find parking and the valley has a bunch of places to do outdoor workouts. For instance, we have our weekly 5-mile walking meetings at a local park.
