Meet Khara Pechtes of Therapeutic Synergy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khara Pechtes.

Khara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I can fondly remember my mother giving me a massage after a bath. It was the most soothing, comforting, and safe feeling I had ever experienced. I always looked forward to that time with her, the unconditional love and care she gave, while I received this magical energetic transfer. This has forever bonded our connection. Years later when my mother had injured her back, I naturally wanted to help, massaging her on a daily basis during that time. It didn’t take long for me to discover that like my mother, I also had the gift of nurturing touch. I realized this was a path I wanted to professionally pursue, delighted to know I could provide women with the power of bodywork, assist in the process of healing, and overall health and wellness. At the time there weren’t as many classes dedicated to offering women this type of education specifically for infant massage or the benefits of nurturing touch.

What do you do when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I love to travel, immersing myself in another culture, experiencing traditions, savoring the delicious food, and learning about the inner workings of other worlds near and far. Every encounter along my path shapes my adventure, bringing a new sense of awareness, feeling, and memories. These adventures have undoubtedly given me perspective, allowing me to appreciate, respect, and be grateful for the simple things in life, while being more centered and present. I truly believe it is a gift to share nurturing touch with my clients, helping to heal one soul at a time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business always has its challenges, especially when you are doing it on your own. However, through this entire process, I have learned so much as it’s continually changing and evolving from year to year. From filing paperwork, licensing, insurance, taxes, to building a website and purchasing all of the essential tools before you even have the clientele. Some might say the choice I have made to serve women clientele in this niche market might not have been as lucrative, but I decided from the very beginning to focus on a specific area that I felt was lacking. It is so important to provide support and education for women who are in need, and knowing that I can actually make an impact on women’s health and wellness is what motivates me to assist in their healing process.

Please tell us about Therapeutic Synergy.
Therapeutic Synergy was established in Los Angeles in 2009, serving the West LA area with private in-home massage appointments for women clientele.

I provide a variety of modalities including Swedish, Shiatsu, Myofascial therapy, pregnancy massage, and teach infant massage to new parents. I often incorporate prenatal yoga into my pregnancy massage sessions to increase strength & flexibility and develop breathing & relaxation techniques in preparation for labor. I encourage women to incorporate holistic healing for themselves and their babies while applying the beliefs that body, mind, and spirit are at the core of health and wellness. We are able to achieve balance when all is aligned, not just physically but emotionally. Guidance and awareness of safe topicals, supplements, and childbirth are all topics of interest.

As a small business owner, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to align myself with other wellness professionals, teaching small workshops, connecting with the community, and continuing to educate and collaborate on a higher level. This allows me to stay current and knowledgeable with continual advances in alternative care and well-being. After additional training, I am honored to now be able volunteer at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital providing comfort care to patients in the NICU, PICU, Hematology, and Oncology departments.

I thrive in an environment where I am able to help assist in the healing process and provide comfort to women in need. Energy is transferred through the power of touch, every person connects through mind, body, and spirit receiving what is needed at the time. Each session is unique and special, it is a gift to give nurturing touch, healing one soul at a time.
