Meet Tessa Bedik

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Bedik.

Hi Tessa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always had a creative look on life. Whether it was the colors in the clothing I wore or the intricate doodles I drew, life had a happier meaning to it. The expression in my artwork shows that, yes, there were tough times in my childhood, but there were also beautiful ones. As I’ve developed into the creative artist I am today, I can truly appreciate the joy of the world and everyone’s energy surrounding it. Today I create hair accessories and jewelry with polymer clay. I am also a 3D environment modeler as well as a painter in my spare time.

As these outlets are more of my hobby, I am also a culinary chef in the South Bay Area.

All these parts of me and my identity have been and will always be creative and artistic. There is nothing in this world I would rather do

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mentally… there has always been struggles. Artist’s block, not feeling good enough, not seeing your art as the best as you want it to be. There will always be a struggle, but that’s also what motivates me to kept going and push through the tough patches.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I recently have gotten more into acrylic paintings. I work in my studio painting environments, characters, portraits, basically anything that inspires me. On the days I’m not in my studio, I’m at work as a chef in a South Bay resort along the coastline. As for my small business, I am crafty with polymer clay making earrings and hair clips to sell at farmers markets. I went to university and have my bachelor’s in art and 3D animation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck but more in the opportunity that presents itself. Life has crazy things that hit you, all you need to do is roll with the punches and keep on moving.
