Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Tatangelo.
Hi Tara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
If I go back far enough, I fell in love with dance at age four when my mom ensured I had access to classes. Without understanding until years later, I was holding more than I should have been at a very young age, and dance was, and is, really the only way I come back to me and feel what I’m feeling, but also alchemize and move through whatever I am holding. Dance became my therapy.
Fast forward to age 17, and being out on my own, I detoured from dance and put myself through beauty school. Several years later, I was called back to dance in my mid-twenties through an erotic movement pole dance class. I grew up in a space where there was little space for the feminine to be expressed, seen, respected, or honored. But once I got into erotic movement, it was like my body said, “Hello! Where have you been? This is what you need. This is you. This is your language.”
Now I teach and mentor women worldwide to come into their power and embrace their rebel, wild woman, and warrior archetype because this world needs women to be empowered, not suppressed or in fear.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My evolution included releasing the fear and trauma around my body’s sexuality. Growing up in a patriarchal society and family structure, negative messaging and the consequential shame it instilled in me at a young age were rooted in my DNA and had to be shaken free. Initially, I would hide and not let anyone see me in my power, except when I was teaching or in a container where I felt safe. The more I up-leveled my inner beliefs and studied my craft, the more I flowed into where I am today.
I believe in karmic imprints and loops, and there’s no need to keep repeating generational traumas when it’s time to face ourselves and stop playing little girls and hiding. To not just let be whatever is to be, be, because we get to be in control of this experience and our bodies, choices, and we do not need to let these struggles, blocks, and obstacles get in our way when we choose ourselves.
I also kept opening up more to this sacred, ancient woman inside of me who wanted to express more. And so I started working with other teachers and shamans within other practices and healing modalities, which creates the foundation of Eros Alchemy. It’s a curated blend of breathwork, emotional alchemy, dance, eroticism, Qi Gong, and erotic chi. It’s not just dancing. It is my medicine and has brought me to where I am today. Through movement, I embody the feminine and own my power, my pussy, and my body.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work combines feminine empowerment, embodiment, and sacred sexuality. These remind people who they are through their voice, power, purpose, and pleasure. Finding pleasure in all the pain, suffering, and heartache and then finding pleasure in your body and orgasmic energy by utilizing tantric arts to learn how to move this energy in the body. Tantra and Qi Gong are critical pieces that have brought me deeper into my embodiment and dance. And they help keep my body clear and healthy.
As women, we are here to express ourselves, hold space, move energy, and ground into the Earth to receive the Earth’s messages and guidance from our ancestors. I have a deep love and passion for witnessing others explode open and find themselves, their voice, their body, their movement, and their expression. I want to see more and more of it in the world. This is my purpose. This is what I’m here to do. I’m here to soften people into their power and into their strength.
My current offerings, below, can be experienced in weekend workshops, retreats, one-off classes, immersions, private 1:1, and mentorship programs.
Queens den: A feminine embodiment erotic movement class guiding women into owning their power, purpose, and pleasure through embodied confidence, utilizing somatic awareness practices to find where the body is holding through Shakti heart rise and breast massage ritual to healing, clearing ancestral energy, and releasing past lovers. Facilitates deep self-love activation, healing, and heart opening.
Womb purification: Ancient yoni egg practice and tantric arts practices to clear the womb through breath movement and awareness.
Erotic Qi/Qi Gong: Utilizes the sacred life force energy to awaken the stories your body holds and initiates energy activation to clear the vessel to help with physical and emotional pain, to remove and release toxic and stagnant energy, and improve body awareness to bring you closer to your sensual pleasure receptors.
Shamanic breath work: Helps release the pent-up tension stored within the body’s tissues, gives the body permission to recalibrate and improves oxygen capacity in the blood, leading to improved energy levels and stronger stamina.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
One of the biggest challenges during Covid-19 was teaching online and learning how to embody this medicine and work through teaching on a screen where there’s no physical touch or ability to be in a shared space. But this challenge enabled my work to reach women across the entire country. Covid-19 taught me about surrender. To keep surrendering to what’s here because we’re adaptable humans.
Covid-19 also taught me not to listen to the masses and do what I feel. So, if I want to hug people, I’m going to hug people. If I want to be in a room with people, I will be in a room with people. I’m not going to live in fear. I’ve spent most of my life coming out of the fear space. So, if anything, it taught me to be more fearless. And to keep listening, exploring, and asking questions. Just because the TV is saying one thing, that doesn’t mean it’s my truth.
