Meet Tara Kellogg of Architara Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Kellogg.

Tara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born in Texas, I am a Southern California transplant. I’ve loved everything California has to offer, and feel lucky to have the opportunity to photograph all parts of this fantastic area!

I graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and minor in Architecture. I was an architect with a passion for photography before moving to California at the beginning of 2010. When I changed states, I changed occupations as well. I turned my passion into a profession and used my architectural and interior design background to lead me to construction and real estate photography. Working on projects like the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal, Dodger Stadium and the Sacramento Airport increased my love of this job. I started working in real estate photography in 2013, and have grown this side of the business rapidly. I continue to grow and strive to be better than I was yesterday in the architectural and real estate photography world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I had an easy time transitioning into construction documentation photography, thanks to an amazing woman, my boss, my mentor and my friend, Rachel Brockey.

However, when that chapter closed I was at a crossroads with where my career should go next. Luckily, I found an ad on craigslist for a real estate photographer contract job, and that’s when I knew this was for me! It took more than a few months of struggling to find myself, my style and my clients for that matter. I met some incredible people that helped point me in the right direction. With their help and my determination to make this part time job a career, I have turned by real estate photography company into a successful business!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Architara Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The name of my business, Architara Photography, came from my own name, Tara, and my love of architecture, which really explains it all. We photograph architecture, primarily residential and commercial real estate. We use a photography method called HDR, which is a bit of styled look which helps our photos stand out a bit. We offer HDR ground photography, aerial photography, aerial videos, 3D tours, custom listing websites, flyer design, and more. I have tried to create a “one-stop-shop” for real estate agents for all their needs. I am proud that I have been able to grow my company from just one employee, me, to a team of photographers that can deliver a great product to clients.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Looking forward, I hope to continue to grow, not just in business, but in service. Are we delivering the best photos we can? Are we getting them to the client in a timely manner? What new inventive photography service is out there? I want to make sure Architara Photography is providing the newest and hopefully best services available.

Pricing:

  • ground photography packages start at $105
  • 3D tours start at $275
  • aerial photography starts at $140
