Today we’d like to introduce you to Taj Austin, Ras Austin, RioLoz, and Eric Jamal.
Four kindred young cats (Ras & Taj Austin, RioLoz and Eric Jamal) dedicated to the craft met at an interesting crossroads and decided to bundle up in a studio apt. Apartment 505! while also all four working at the same restaurant My 2 Cents LA (That Shit-Fi!). Let’s backtrack a little bit; Coast Contra was birthed in 2013 in RioLoz’s pops house.
Ras, Taj, and Rio (being its original group members) encountered Eric Jamal three yrs later and found him to be a long lost original piece of the puzzle. Thus Voltron was assembled, Apt. 505 was converted to the laboratory, and the story began.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a beautiful journey both smooth and turbulent, but the main test has been the mental aspect of growing through the process and evolving along the way. The main struggles we faced were mental hurdles, building better communicative habits amongst ourselves and keeping the over experience fun and enjoyable.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Coast Contra – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Coast Contra is a Music Group of four individuals: Taj Austin, Eric Jamal, RioLoz and Ras Austin. We are predominantly a Hip Hop based rap group although our range is very unique and most times unexpected.
We’ve curated and currently, host a monthly music event at My 2 Cents LA in Mid-City known as Coast Contra Cypher Sundays with our latest event scheduled for April 14th, 2019. Our latest music releases and videos can be found under the name Coast Contra on all platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Tidal, etc.
We represent liberation, and our core values and principles are as priceless to us as they are unwavering. We the best you never heard until now! Facts!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As of now the goal that takes absolute priority for us is to feel as good as we possibly can! Real Talk the possibilities are endless and endlessly in our favor as well as our best interest, so that’s where the focus is concentrated at.
We have an amazing community behind us LA specifically has been receptive and supportive of the state of mind of Coast Contra beyond us as the .physical members so if its anything we look forward to the most is giving more with abundance have.
