Meet Super Waxx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Super Waxx.

Super Waxx, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started as an artist at a very young age. I learned a lot about art and creativity while watching animated cartoons, collecting comic books, instructional art books, and watching instructional art programming on PBS. I pursued art as more of a personal passion until the age of 25. I was encouraged to submit to a friends group art show and the flood gates of creativity and adventure went from there.

PBS is the best, isn’t it!  We’ve actually heard from many of our interviewees in the past about the impact PBS programming has had on them.  Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No path to evolution is perfectly paved. That goes for everyone. Especially the working artist. I think one of the greatest obstacles is the test of will. You have to show up to the medium and push through the resistance and distractions that may present themselves internally. Possessing willpower is crucial to helping any artist overcome those so called struggles that are inevitable. I love to live by converting your struggles into strength.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There are far too many to sum down to one but the common piece that all my proudest moments have in common is the sense of fulfillment I experience when I am able to connect the viewers to their humanity and help bring awareness about global or historical subjects through my visual art.
