Spicy Mari is the CEO & Founder of The Spicy Life. As a Relationship Expert, Spicy Mari has dedicated her life’s work to encouraging singles and couples to communicate and connect more effectively by incorporating passion and adventure back into their interpersonal relationships. Raw and uncensored in her matchmaking approach Spicy Mari has been featured on Access Live, VH1’s Basketball Wives, BuzzFeed, Essence Magazine, Soul Pancake, Tastemade, OWN NETWORK’s Don’t Tell The Bride, The Ricky Lake Show, and DashRadio as a recurring dating coach and matchmaker.
Spicy Mari’s desire to understand the way in which men and women communicate, started in her adolescence and led her to obtain a degree in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley. Discovering her life’s purpose was to not only help people find love but also teach them to sustain it, she developed easy to apply strategies and methods known as Spicy Tips. Kindling romantic flames for others ignited a fire in her that led her to receive certification as a dating coach from the International Dating Coach Association. Shortly after sparking several love connections, she devised The S.P.I.C.Y Life Program, which provides exciting courses, seminars, and events on “Self, Passion, Intimacy, Communication & learning to say YES.” In order to enrich her ability to add value to singles and couples in a digital dating era, she went on to obtain a Masters in Communication Management from the University of Southern California. Formed with the goal of transcending traditional boundaries, The Spicy Life provides self-improvement through effective communication and relationship building.
Has it been a smooth road?
Running a business is not easy but it is the most gratifying thing you will do in your life. When I first started, all I wanted to do was coach people and share my matchmaking gifts. I had this great idea and research to support it but what I was not confident about was how to start and operate the business. What I did was leverage my network. I had a fiancé that was a business consultant, a best friend who was a brand manager, another friend who was an attorney, a friend who was a content producer, and classmates who believed in me. A CEO is not great on their own, they are only as strong as the people they surround themselves with. I had to exercise humility amongst them and come up to speed very quickly if I wanted my business to be successful.

The Spicy Life Inc. is a Relationship Consulting Firm that formed for the purpose of strengthening your interpersonal experiences. If an entrepreneur was going to start their own Relationship Consulting Firm I would definitely suggest they start in a major metropolitan city like Los Angeles. For a local resident, traffic, geographical distance, work hours, and cost of living doesn’t always lend itself convenient to meeting new groups of people. There is an abundance of singles here who want to make authentic connections but don’t always have the time or energy to hunt for a partner themselves. This is perfect for a matchmaker because large overpopulated cities that provide an amazing social life are great places for scouting and recruitment. I have had the privilege of not only making connections more convenient for people, I also get to provide them with the tools to do it themselves.
