Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Perez Teuffer.
Hi Sofia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Los Angeles six years ago from Mexico City. It’s been a journey of ups and downs since I got here. A journey of dreams to follow and to accomplish all by myself away from my family and my country I created a world of my own where I live to create stories that others can relate to. I’ve always been passionate about films and the industry, I see my life as a film itself, full of action with ambitions and a happy ending ahead. I moved here on 2017 to study all the aspects of the film industry I went to school to the New York film Academy Located in Los Angeles and since then I’ve been working and directing projects of my own that can be not only meaningful to me but also to others. I believe life is about sharing with one another no matter where you come from or who you are your story always will matter to someone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any road you take in life will never be smooth there will always be rocks on the way in my case, there has been a lot of rocks and sometimes I was close to giving up but when you have a dream and a passion, it reminds you that its all part of getting there. It’s definitely hard being a young Latina woman in another country and moving around a tough industry I think one of the main struggles has been my gender my race and my young age since I am very ambitious and I don’t back down easily that sometimes can make you a target. I think one of my biggest struggles has been believing in myself because I had to lo learn to do it the hard way. Because at the end all we got is us I’ve learned that people along the road might be temporary and that people come and go but you stay, and nobody is going to walk this road with you, they might accompany you but only you can walk towards your destiny.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a writer and Director; the current project I’m fishing up now is called THE HUMAN PROJECT and it’s been a hard one to put together. The human project contains six different stories with six different human struggles I shot this with my two best friends and it will be exhibited at a museum in Mexico City this November. This is one among many other projects that I am working on.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Kindness, the world we live in today is a horrible one! And everyone is going through something but if we stay kind to each other no matter what industry you are on you will always succeed. It’s also important to understand that you are not better than anyone else you are just different and when different people come together with the interest to create then that’s where success and magic happen.
