Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Pereira.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shawn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As 1992 approached and my career as a lifeguard WSIT Instructor trainer was coming to an end, I decided to switch gears and try my hand at modeling. I was lucky enough to find success almost Immediately.
Growing up with bad skin and seeing all the images in magazines of others with nice skin, I promised myself that if my skin ever got better, I would give it a shot. Landing my first national commercial print job for Miller Beer and then a flurry of national and global campaigns including Crystal Lite, Tag Heuer, Diet Coke, Ralph Lauren Polo Sport, etc. I have recently started modeling again and just got my first campaign back on the scene for Craig Shelly Beverly Hills watches.
Music has accompanied me all my life and so on a chance desire of my wife Candice Klein Pereira to learn guitar, It was I who ended up in this sound environment. I was the kid who had 19 crates of records in his room but didn’t think I would ever play an instrument. Well that all changed that faithful day in 1996. During the next few years, I developed my style and found my voice with the help of an awesome musician, Stephan Villa Nueva. By 2001, I started writing my own songs and the music has been finding me ever since. Collaborating and creating with many awesome writers and artists including DJ Mr Luke and Nicolas Saad, two amazing French DJ/producers who rule the French Riviera, to Jack Tempchin, who was just inducted into the Writers’ Hall of Fame this month.
2018 was an amazing year with the brand new collaboration and album with the french dynamic duo. Within 2 hours our collaborative album, 3.0, released on August 9th 2018, went #1 on iTunes French dance charts and 23rd overall albums. With the smash hit “Love & Sunshine” reaching top ten status and radio play from Brazil’s RCN radio with Fabio Pan to Monaco’s radio Monaco. Djs from Dubai to Warsaw are all playing “Love & Sunshine”. The energy is expanding at the speed of sound and the world is dancing. We kicked off the live shows in October 2018 in Paris at Le Piaf. We rang in the 2019 New Year with multiple performances on the exclusively chic French Caribbean island of St Barth’s with a very special live event debuting the brand new acoustic piano extended remix of Love & Sunshine at the islands only place to be, Le Ti, where everyone from rockstars to billionaires dance on tables and celebrate life together.
As 2019 began with a bang the sparks are flying. I have been writing and releasing songs all year and found myself in the south of France in April singing, writing and performing all over the Riviera. We have also now had our song “Love and Sunshine” featured as a signature drink on the Prince of Monaco’s Blue gin drink menu at his #1 resort in the south of France, the Monte Carlo Bay Resort. The Love and Sunshine became the most popular drink on the menu instantly. Most recently, another track I wrote with DJ Alex Deeper called “Got to be Love” has found its way onto Deépalma Records. Their latest release, Ibiza 2019, came out two weeks ago and Is #1 on the Amazon dance charts as well as #1 in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, and Poland. It placed top 3 in France and Italy and was placed in the top 10 in Australia and the UK. Such a crazy surreal feeling and it just keeps arriving. I have started a new project called The Crossliner and I am currently collaborating and creating an all-new underground electro house sound. I will be returning to Paris and the south of France, Ibiza, etc. next week, July 4th to perform, write and prepare the new musical energy for release.
I find it almost impossible that the story I am telling is mine. I am surrounded by the love of my wife, Candice, and six years old son, Griffin, and am grateful for every day we get to live together. My family are so supportive of everything and it’s truly awesome to be able to share all our successes, challenges and triumphs with each other. It makes all the difference in the world to feel their Love and Energy. I look forward to every new experience, big, small and in between. I really feel the love and support from my entire family, and I am grateful to have such an amazing family connection.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh no, the road is never smooth haha it’s only the weight of your conviction that steadies the ride. From be ripped off on my supposed first photoshoot to having people, who are again supposedly helping you, try to steal your publishing, no I’d say it’s rarely if not ever a smooth road. Only when you learn to adapt and adjust to every situation can you truly become successful. I always say, “fall in love with chaos and you’ll be in love every day”. Hahaha.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a model, musician, creative entrepreneur, and conduit of light. My passion consists of everything from modeling, writing, singing, collaborating, creating, and figuring out how to do so with purpose and inspiration. I really think their only thing that separates and connects us all is the actual act of being yourself. We are all different and the same in so many ways, it’s only when we allow ourselves to be who we are that we start carving our way into the fullness of our light.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
For me, the beauty of being creative and goal-oriented is that the energy constantly changes and shifts. So, I don’t exactly know what that means, however I do feel that the human connection and bond created through creativity of all kinds will prevail and allow technology to be an instrument of that process rather than the replacement of it.
