Meet Shawn Conro of Lifestyle Drone in Brentwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Conro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story I guess starts with a camera, an old Yashika 50mm film camera. I fell in love. It was my first introduction into photography and I have been a life-long fan ever since. I am a native to California born in Santa Monica. For years I would develop my photographs and several times a year, put together galleries of my work for people to view. In 2009, I graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Film and Video Production.

A friend of mine at the time bought one of the first UAS (Drones) to come out in the market called the DJI Phantom Drone. That changed everything for me. Being able to take to the skies and film and photograph things I could only dream of just a few years back. It was a game changer and after flying for a couple years, (and crashing) I created Lifestyle Drone Productions. I started shooting for special events and Commercial work but realized quickly that there was a huge demand in the real estate world for my aerial photography and videography.

I currently work for some of the top real estate agencies in Southern California: Nestseekers in Beverly Hills, The Serhant Team in Los Angeles, and The Noel Team with Keller Williams in Santa Monica to list a few.

Lifestyle Drone offers a very useful and powerful tool with great promise and applications in many industries. We are story tellers, artist and creative individuals who strive to make your business come to new life through the lens and skillful editing techniques.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always obstacles and challenges one faces when creating a business for the first time. My experience however has been relatively smooth. The one challenge we face I will say, is complying with the FAA while using our drones. Often a property we shoot is too close to an airport and cannot gain clearance to fly in that area. There are a lot of areas technically we are not supposed to fly which make it challenging at times. Safety is always top priority when flying and we do try to follow all FAA guidelines when out in the field.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with LIFESTYLE DRONE – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We here at Lifestyle Drone focus on delivering the highest quality visuals to Real Estate Agents, Production companies, Landscape Developers and Filmmakers alike. We look to inspire and no job is ever considered too small or big. We constantly strive to maintain a fresh, open-minded approach to every new project we are a part of. Naturally we separate ourselves from other competition by staying true to the good old fashion ways of doing business. We listen to our clients and we care about our clients and ultimately want them to succeed through the work that’s created.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The sky’s the limits for us right now and since aerial UAS cinematography is fairly new, who knows? The next big step for us would be to expand our services to Santa Barbara and San Diego.

“Once you have flown, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return.” – Leonardo da Vinci
