Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Tracy.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After Leaving a career in the corporate world. I went out on a whim to explore the life of a photographer. I shadowed a few photographers and I was hooked. I loved how connected these folks were to their craft and to their clients. I bought a crappy simple camera and lens. I sought out classes as well the meanest mentors I could find. I practiced a lot, and finally begin taking photos pro-bono. Fast forward, it was the pro-bono work that inspired me to really dream big and stay open to possibilities.
Has it been a smooth road?
No. Was not a smooth road, no straight line, and pony time at the park. lol. There were struggles along way. They ended up being great learning lessons. For instance, I was having a hard time figuring out what type of photographer I wanted to be. I was in love with so many genres. That lack of clarity gave my clients a feeling like I wasn’t 100% present for them. Also, many people take photography for granted, treat photographers small (especially new photographer), the public can be brutal if you let them. I had to learn clarity, moxy, and really bring out my strong will. Since then, when situations arise, I’m much more steadfast and I even laugh.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sasha Renee Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Sasha Renee Photography is all about telling stories. We specialize in Babies/Children, Creative Editorial Sessions for anyone wanting the experience of a model or the results of a magazine ready shoot, and our newly developed Commercial Department which will cater to business needs, (headshot, model testing etc.), personal or professional branding, and events of all types. What sets us apart from others is our ability to adapt to the needs of our clients. We are very versatile. We also keep up with education, we make it a point to do pro-bono work and a gesture of gratitude, and we have taken a fashion genre and are making it for the common person!!!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think technology will be amazing and there will be a segment of the photo world who will strive to be toy masters with and some most times without having the tech savvy to handle it. I think the average person will use such gadgets and feel there is no need for what we do. I also see a great number of photographers returning to the classic art of photography and providing their clients with an amazing experience. So, our industry can go either way. For better or for worse, we survive and thrive. That is the life of a true photographer!!
