Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Mirabal.
Hi Samantha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In starting this journey and in being an actor myself I met A LOT of actors who didn’t know where to go, what to do, or how to start. In meeting actors not only all over the country but all over the world and connecting with people I began to wonder Why is this a common thread? and How do we fix this as a creative community. That is how the Actor’s Help Desk was born. In collaborating with industry professionals such as agents, managers, casting directors, stage managers, directors, photographers, etc. with their guidance and support we created a platform to connect everyone together in a simple way. Since COVID the world has changed so drastically and we now have the ability to connect and change one another with the click of a button, that is what Actor’s Help Desk aims to do. By joining the global connection any creative mind can network, meet, and friend any creative individual from any part of the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a challenging task with all of the logistics and we still have a ways to go but I am happy with all the work we’ve currently put in. Trying to create a big platform is a daunting task, there are a lot of moving parts and sleepless nights but it is 100% worth it. The biggest struggle is getting the word out about Actor’s Help Desk.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a 25 year old Cuban American actress, and I am first generation American on my fathers side. I am extremely passionate about performing arts and bringing opportunities to people who might not have access to them because you can find talented people everywhere. I have been performing since I was 3 years old and started in the dance world and gradually moved more towards acting and Musical Theater. I moved to New York when I was 18 to go to AMDA I had never been and didn’t know anyone but I knew I had to branch out to make my dreams come true. After living, performing, teaching and networking in the big city I decided it was time for a change and moved out to California mid pandemic with a one way ticket and one duffle bag of clothes. Since moving to California I have been continuing my career in performing arts while also helping any and every creative person I can. The pandemic hurt everyone but it especially hurt the entertainment industry and creative community. My goal was to make a place where everyone could connect and be social while also achieving tools and advice that would help you grow as an artist and be more successful in your career. I’ve always been a big believer in “By Actors For Actors” because if you haven’t been in the position of a struggling artist how can you possibly understand what they are going through? That is exactly what Actor’s Help Desk is it’s a platform made by actors for actors to succeed.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are to have events all over where creatives can come and have some fun, network, and learn more about Actor’s Help Desk and decide if they want to become a part of the global community. We have currently held events in Atlanta, Georgia Manhattan, New York, Los Angeles, California, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Louisiana, Grenada, West Indies
