Today we’d like to introduce you to Rytham Singla.
Hi Rytham, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I possessed a keen eye for capturing extraordinary moments and a burning desire to pursue my passion on a grander scale. With dreams of making it big in the world of photography, I made the bold decision to embark on a life-changing journey to the enchanting city of Los Angeles.
Arriving in the City of Angels, I was instantly captivated by the vibrant energy and the promise of endless opportunities. I enrolled in a prestigious photography program at a renowned institute (New York Film Academy) to further polish my skills and gain exposure to the local photography scene. With determination in my heart and a camera in another hand, I set out to explore the diverse landscapes and cultural tapestry that LA had to offer.
My first few months in LA were a whirlwind of excitement and discovery. I wandered through the iconic streets of Hollywood, capturing the glamour and dreams that seemed to infuse the air. I spent countless hours at Venice Beach, capturing the colorful characters and the mesmerizing sunsets that painted the sky. Every click of my camera brought me closer to realizing my dreams.
Eager to make connections within the photography community, I attended industry events, workshops, and exhibitions. I met fellow photographers, models, stylists, and art directors who shared my love for visual storytelling. Collaborations soon followed, allowing me to create breathtaking images that blended Indian aesthetics with the magic of LA.
My portfolio grew stronger with each passing day, and my unique perspective caught the attention of several influential figures in the industry. I began receiving student short films and my work showcased a fusion of Indian heritage and the contemporary allure of LA, making my stand out in a competitive market.
As I reputation soared, I found himself juggling multiple projects and collaborating with prominent clients. My days were filled with creative shoots in stunning locations, while my nights were spent meticulously editing the photographs to perfection. Through the highs and lows, I remained steadfast in my commitment to my craft, constantly pushing the boundaries of my own creativity.
I understood the importance of maintaining a balance between work and personal life. I made time to immerse myself in the vibrant LA culture, exploring its art galleries, attending live music events, and indulging in the city’s culinary delights. This allowed me to recharge and find inspiration in the pulsating heartbeat of LA.
My journey as an Indian photographer in LA was not without its challenges. I faced moments of self-doubt, cultural adjustments, and the occasional homesickness. However, I embraced these hurdles as opportunities for growth, learning from each experience and emerging stronger and more resilient.
My talent and dedication propelled me to heights. I became a BTS(Behind The Scene) photographer, known not only in LA but across the California.
Yet, despite my success, I never forgot my roots. I remained deeply connected to my Indian heritage, using my art to shed light on the beauty and diversity of my homeland. I collaborated with organizations that empowered aspiring photographers in India, sharing my knowledge and experiences to inspire the next generation.
As an Indian photographer who conquered LA continues to unfold, my love for photography and the undying spirit of exploration will keep me constantly seeking new horizons. My lens captures the magic of human emotions, the breathtaking landscapes of both India and LA and the untold stories waiting to be discovered.
And as my amazing journey as an Indian photographer who followed his dreams will be continued.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an international student who is trying to settle in the city of dreams, there were many struggles I faced like:
Cultural Adjustment: Moving to a new country with a different culture and way of life can be overwhelming. I had to adapt to a new environment, understand cultural nuances, and navigate unfamiliar social dynamics. This adjustment required patience and a willingness to embrace the diversity of LA.
Intense Competition: LA is known for its thriving arts and entertainment industry, attracting talented photographers from all over the world. I found myself amidst fierce competition, vying for recognition and opportunities. I had to find ways to differentiate myself and showcase my unique style to stand out in a saturated market.
Establishing a Network: Building a strong professional network is crucial in the photography industry. Initially, I faced the challenge of not having a well-established network in LA.
Financial Strain: Starting a career in a new city often comes with financial challenges. I had to manage my finances wisely, especially during the early stages when I was building my portfolio and seeking paid assignments.
Balancing Artistic Vision and Commercial Demands: I also had to consider commercial demands. Clients often had specific requirements and expectations that might not align with his personal artistic expression.
Homesickness and Emotional Support: Being away from family, friends, and the familiar surroundings of India took an emotional toll on me. I missed the emotional support and encouragement that I loved ones provided me back home.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well as a photographer, I specialized in fashion, portrait and horror shoots. But since the moment I can to LA, I found an amazing new genre BTS (behind the scenes) photography in short student films and I’m pretty good in it.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are many ways to communicate and work with me like through collaborations, Instagram DM.
