Meet Rocky Darkroads

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocky Darkroads.

Hi Rocky, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working in 2005 in Venice Beach, California as a body piercer.

I worked every day for a couple of years there before I started tattooing, I worked and learned slowly for the next seven years there.

In 2012, I started working on Melrose Ave. When we open our first shop with my partner Julio the monster.

Golden Daggers was a place where we started growing as Artists, I finally shaped up a sort of a style of my own.

I stopped doing color tattoos in 2018, and all I wanted to do what is dark imagery in black ink.

In 2019 right after a trip to Europe mainly the UK and Berlin, I open a private shop on my own in the Arts District, “BlackHearted Angels” was definitely a success until COVID-19 hit and I had to shut it down permanently last year in October 2020.

Leaving me the only option to help our first shop GoldenDaggers survive the pandemic.

In August 2021 me and my partner decided to branch out and open a brand new shop to focus on Black Work.

“Black Serpents” is now open in the heart of the historic and beautiful downtown Los Angeles along with my partner Julio the monster we start this new chapter of our careers in a brand new place where we can focus and grow once again as individuals, artists, and business owners.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Social media drama it’s always there, which I don’t care too much about. I will always focus my attention on my individual growth and let people do their own.

Opening and closing shops has taught me that you can’t always win.

But there’s always a chance to try it again and never stop.

At the end, the goal it’s in your head but the best is about enjoying the process, enjoy the ride.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have worked for many years on what I like to do and what I like to see on my page. I will never do something I wouldn’t get on myself. What I do for people it’s something I would like for me.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
No favorite child memories as of now maybe bad ones not favorite ones.
