Meet Rhonda Kennedy of Rhonda’s Red Sauce in South LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Kennedy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rhonda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2016, I began to take writing serious as I set out to find a gig in the world of television or digital content. I was hired by Jeanine Daniels to work as a Writers Assistant on a digital series under her nine27 Entertainment platform. I found my way and was quickly promoted to a Staff Writer and eventually a Producer. As a Producer, I’m constantly managing personalities, thinking about big picture details and problem-solving. These responsibilities can be overwhelming but it’s incredibly satisfying being able to play such a vital role to a production. During the summer of 2019, I took the leap and directed my first short film called Medicated Dawn. This project is loosely based on my life and sets out to explore the black lesbian experience while redefining sisterhood. Immediately after shooting the film, God reordered my steps and I started a YouTube channel thats dedicated to my younger self.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been smooth at all. I’ve been the biggest obstacle during this entire journey. Doubt and fear have crept in at different stages and made me believe I wasn’t good enough for the success I always dreamed about. And for me, success is not about money, it’s about how I can make others think and feel.

Please tell us about Rhonda’s Red Sauce.
My brand is Rhonda’s Red Sauce. I chose this name because I enjoy red sauces (hot sauce, dipping sauce, marinara, etc.). I do mukbangs on YouTube which allows me to connect with people over food, different types of sauces and topics drawn from real-life experiences. I’m known for referring to subscribers as my good people, eating meatless options, story times based on past relationships and FAMILY NIGHT. Family Night is something that I’m very proud of. It’s a safe space that takes place every Friday Night on YouTube at 7pm PST — everyone is welcome and no topics are off-limits. Many have referred to family night, both publicly and privately, as therapy.

Rhonda has been one of the most influential and inspiration youtubers I’ve seen in a while ! Truly she is a gem that’s going to be something big. I enjoy her content as well as her friendship. That’s how she makes everyone feel as if they are a friend not a fan !! I will continue to follow her journey !
