Meet Daryl Pierce of Rewind Emergency Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryl Pierce.

Daryl, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have learned that life takes you to unexpected places and you never know what the future holds – so my philosophy is to enjoy the moment and expect the unexpected – this is exactly what Rewind Emergency Services focuses on – helping property owners when unexpected events (water damage, fire damage, mold and sewage clean up) happen and we restore their properties to their original condition.

After growing up in the family construction business in Toronto, meeting my wife Natalie and college in Buffalo NY and living in South Carolina for 5 years my family (wife Natalie and 4 young children) relocated to SoCal in 2010 and shortly thereafter I left the corporate world (as an auditor (CPA) focusing on construction) and opened a restoration business (under a previous name under a franchise).

It has been a lot of work and very rewarding owning my own business – definitely not easy and not for everyone. The restoration industry is very volatile and unpredictable – which I enjoy. Never a dull moment.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There has been nothing smooth about it – lots of ups and downs which is typical within the restoration industry and starting a new business in general. I have always taken the approach of self-accountability and self-awareness and when things are not going as expected it has been due to lack of a direct focus on the business and constantly having to remind myself of our vision and the tasks at hand in order to reach our visions.

Owning a business is a grind mentally and physically – no one ever said it would be easy and you have to teach yourself to keep moving forward and not get held back by things in the past.

I have also learned that when things are going well it is not time rest on your success and when things aren’t going as planned don’t feel sorry for yourself and get back to work!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our company is a service company that focuses on restoring both commercial and residential properties back to their original condition.

The majority of our work is insurance work and we consider ourselves advisers during the claim process. This is what separates us from our competition – our sole mission is to do what is in the best interest of our customers on every job and this has led to the growth of our company. This is our foundation and we look to build upon it in the future.

What were you like growing up?
I was always involved in sports (hockey, football, soccer, golf – you name it I played it!) – but I was also always a numbers person and when I was younger that involved sports stat and sports cards.
